Hello,
I would like opinions on a 2006 Gulf Stream tour master 36 ft. It's 340 hp either cat or cummins not sure yet. Is Gulf Stream a good brand?
Thanks
Jim

Must agree and maybe should have mentioned that as well.
Takes up needed space, too.
Not so sure if you might be completely without when you're down or not, but do know if I lose one of ours, I have another until I can make repairs. This happened in late summer with us and we got along fine until I was able to stop for some days, troubleshoot it, find parts and repair it.

Especially concentrate on water intrusion.

I disagree. When buying an older coach, initial quality and company reputation is equally as important as condition and the evidence of verifiable maintenance. You can fix most minor issues with a rig (water damage being the big exception), but you can't take a coach that was junk to begin with and make it better. Most of the 15+ year old coaches you see on the road were considered "high end" when built.

The unit has a fiberglass roof and sides.i think body paint. Basement dual air with heat pump plus propain. No side radiator. We owned a fleetwood discovery 02 38d and really liked it but sold that unit.
Thanks for the help.

One can save themselves a lot of trouble in inspecting any DP for quality of workmanship both inside and out, with just looking for a side radiator and the sunbrella type material in an alum. shielded awning if OEM. The rest will usually follow in these higher end units.
I feel you can use the awning quality to gauge gas units, as well, but you might want to go a step further with this and look for full body paint and a fiberglas roof. This should be observed on the DP's as well, once you get serious and like the floor plan.

We bought our coach new and still have it. Gulfstream is not a good brand compared to many brands and especially not as good as Entegra Coach or Newmar in terms of attention to detail and quality. Gulfstream is not making Class A coaches and their customer service is terrible. But if the price is right, ultra low, give it a try maybe. We do not recommend Gulfstream and would never sell our coach to family or friends. We would only sell it to a Gulfstream lover on here. Our next coach will not be a Gulfstream, we would rather have a Thor. That said, our coach is still working, we will use it until it completely falls apart, we always buy new vehicles and use them till they die. We like it & we hate it. But we love RVing.

I looked at some Gulf Stream Super C's during that time frame and was very dissapointed by what I saw and heard. The class A's may be an entirely different story. Then again, I have heard a lot of bad things about Thor Palazzo's but mine has met my needs and I have no regrets. I would check carefully for solid floors and water damage in any used coach. Most any other problems in a coach that old have probably already been fixed. The biggest issue may be that Gulf Stream is out of business so no factory support.
