Ive seen many people ask "how many miles do you think I can drive per day" and the answers are all over the place for a verity of reasons. So lets ask it a little differently:

When you travel with your Class A, about how many hours a day do you like to drive?

I don't have a class A but I drive 8-10 hours with a break every 3-4 hours this is why I do not have a larger fuel tank it works out perfect stop, fuel, stretch, eat and walk the dog.

I would "like" to drive a couple hours max, have a leisurely lunch, a nap, and then happy hour. But we are not retired or full timers so with that pace we wouldn't make it out of Kansas. We typically plan on covering 500 miles a day or about eight hours. If the driving is easy we have covered 600-700 miles before. Of course we will also stop several times to walk dogs etc.

Depends. Since we work and have a kid in school, time is critical. Going to Fl from MD as an example, I will try and do the drive in 2 days. SC, I might stretch out one. Given a preference I like to be around 4-6 hours and can usually stick to that on most of our trips, but longer, destination trips I will get plenty of rest the night before and do longer stretches - maybe up to 8. Any more than that and it's stops being fun. That said, I have planned on long days and stopped for the day ahead of schedule if I was getting tired. Getting there on a planned time is one thing, getting there in one piece is another. The safety of my family and others is far more important than meeting a deadline. My thought, have a plan, try and stick to the plan, but put in a contingency stop if I get tired en-route. DW doesn't drive, if she did I could see us doing longer stretches. I don't mind though, I like to drive. I do take breaks about every 2 hours to stretch, fuel up, etc.

If I were retired I could see throwing a plan out the window and drive and stop when I wanted. But in our current situation, I try and maximize destination time.

4-6 hours max 250-300 miles. Learned a long time ago, we are retired and do not need to be anywhere! 12 years fulltime. First year out we traveled a lot and what did we see? Campgrounds! Learned real quick to take our time and enjoy our beautiful country!

We will drive no more than 8 hours with a stop and stretch and dog walk minimum of 4 hours. It breaks up the sitting time and helps the hips and legs to stretch.
