We made a mistake, not liking RVing. Made another mistake, bought brand new. Don't want to go bigger. Now trying to sell it & running into scammers. I made signs to put in the window. Posted it on Craigslist. No contact from buyers. Someone contacted us from Craigslist, obviously foreign, wanted to pay thru PayPal, sight unseen, full price. Apparently it is a popular scam so I said get lost. Today a guy called husb from LA (we're in ID) & wants to charge us $400 to put it on '30 different websites UNTIL it's sold'. I told him if it's too good to be true, it probably is. Even though we put it in our ad, no salesmen, another contacted us to sell on consignment. We have to give a month's notice to take it out of covered storage & don't like the idea of strangers walking thru it, maybe damaging it, but might have to do it. We are paying about $500/mo pymt & storage & haven't used it for a year. Every month that goes by we're wasting more money. Can anyone let me know the BEST way to sell an RV? It looks brand new, only 7500 miles. I know someone will say 'this has already been covered' but sometimes you just need an answer to your own specific problem. Thanks.

You might try talking to some local dealers to see if they will sell it on consignment for you. I have a very close friend who was in the exact same situation you were. He purchased a new motor home, and realized he didn't like driving it or using it. He sold it on consignment with a local dealer, but took a $12K hit on it.Jim

I sold mine through RVtrader.com. It went in about 6 weeks. Class C's are popular, however, since you are selling a new unit, you are going to take a big hit on the price. Good luck.

There is no specific answer because we do not have ALL the information.IN order to give specific advice we would need way to many personal details about the purchase and your financial condition.Things like are you paying a payment? Are you upside down? Can you afford to take a loss just to be rid of it. I do not want to know these things about you.

RV Trader.com is where we bought ours. I drove 800 miles to inspect it. Bought it on the spot, bought a one way airplane ticket to pick it up with cashiers check in hand. Went to sellers bank with him, turned over the check, notarized the title, drove home 800 miles.

I second the rvtrader idea, that's where I found mine. It was in Minnesota and I am in Ca. Idiots on Craigslist don't read the ad's they are just scammers. IF it is too good to be true it is. I got calls from the 400 dollar guy also when I sold my trailer. It may take awhile so be ready to wait. Nationwide is most likely the best way to sell, it gets it out there for many people to see. Too bad you lost interest.

Thanks everyone for response. Will try RV Trader. Someone said we were selling it for $5000 less than a new one & I never mentioned how much we're selling it for. We know we're taking a hit. Put $30,000 down & just want to stem the flow of pymts for something we're not using.

Did the dealer you bought it from make a reasonable offer to buy it back or sell it on consignment? Is the rig in a conspicuous place with large For Sale signs in the window. Do your For Sale signs list the brand, model, mileage, "must sell" and your phone number(s). We have sold RV's and cars from our driveway this way when other methods didn't work. Post 3x5 cards on bulletin boards in local markets and RV supply places with date and same info.

Ditto on model #. That's another way to attract serious buyers. I'm still a year out from purchasing but I'm searching first by model # because I know what I want as first choice. I look at ads for preferred models regardless of price. I only look at ads for nonpreferred models if the price is super attractive where it's worth me giving up the floorplan/manufacturer that I prefer.

Here are the four P's of marketing (or at least were 25 years ago when I was in school!) with oversimplified definition. If you goon up any one of the four P's, you increase the difficulty in selling.

Product: Is the product good?
Place: Am I selling it in the right venue(s). I would argue for you this means nationwide websites instead of local craigslist.63
Price: Is is priced appropriately?
Promotion: Am I casting a wide net in promotion and the quality of promotion high?

If I found the correct Craigslist ad you need better pictures. Those look like you're trying to hide something.
Remove the dash picture, too much clutter.
You need wide shots showing more of the inside in one frame. Pic of overhead?

I had to guess at model M-2860DS? That should be in the first sentence.

Even though a generator is standard state the make and kw output. That is usually my 1st question, what generator does it have.

You're asking a fair price but don't be disappointed if you walk away with less than $60K in the end. This depends on how bad you want to get out from under it.

Ignore all of above if I am commenting on the wrong ad.

NEVER EVER reply to an email from Craigslist you do not want to do business with. You said you told someone to get lost. Any scammer or unwanted email should be deleted. Do Not Reply to those.

Keep your ads simple, most calls are 1st time buyers...I was too detailed with my description online and window ads. I stated tank sizes, all the extras then got questions "where does it go when you flush?" You should ask a few RV experience questions right away and let your dialog tailor to what you think their understand is.
Have support when they tour...Photos really help, give out copies of a brochure for your model and print a NADA price list. It's OK to say "I don't know the condition of that other less expensive model, ours has no issues."
The folks that question details, you can answer as they come up. Craigslist is OK for exposure, but make it where the curious have to put in some effort to make it convenient for you. I am not a salesman in any way, so I offered to show it any time someone legitimate called. Our TT sold from an ad in a business window even tho it was listed on 10 different webpages. The buyers were 1st timers, so they could watch their house being built. Our 2nd TT sell was folks that had just sold their house. Good Luck.
