How to tel if you have 30 or 50 amp service?

How can I tell if I need 30 or 50 amp service at an RV park? Cant find it in any of my literature.
  • To confuse you all more!

If you travel a lot to different areas or sporting events you will eventually run into a shore station that will not have the outlet you need. That is why they sell dog bones and adapters.:W

Do some C's have 20 amp service?

None that I'm aware of, at least none of at all recent vintage. Possibly some pop-ups and similar small trailers have 15/20A service rather than 30A service.

The 20A outlet is required by the NEC at all campsites with electric service. It is useful for using appliances and such at the site without having to go through the RV wiring. (Actually, I don't know offhand if it technically requires a 20A circuit or if a 15A circuit and receptacle would also be acceptable. The difference is not of great practical importance since pretty nearly nothing has an actual 20A plug with the one prong horizontal.)

Look at the plug on the end of your power cord.
You will most likely have a 30 amp RV. That would fit in the middle outlet in the pix above.

this is a 30 amp plug

Additionally most trailers I have seen also has a STICKER next to the 30A or 50A Shore Power Cable Door that tells you what SERVICE the trailer has been setup for... (30AMPS or 50AMP)

Thanks, that makes it easy. I love this forum!
  • William,

Are you asking if the Park has 50amp service?
If they don't say on their website, you have to call and ask.

If you are asking if your coach is 30 or 50 amp?
    Count the pins on the shore power plug. 3 = 30, 4 = 50
