I would like to get a road report from anyone who has travelled this route recently. I have been told that it is a very rough ride. Also heard of construction delays. Is this true of the whole route, or can someone pin-point the problem areas so I can plan a detour?

When we head home from the Escapade in Goshen.
I plan to take I75 home. Just to avoid Indy and I65.

You can avoid IN 65 by taking I24 and getting off on the parkway to Hopkinsville KY (forget name) and on to Evansville where you will pick up the new I69. The new portion ends at hyw 231 and it is two lanes to Bloomington and four lane hyw 37 to Indy. Much less traffic but 37 has some stop lights to deal with. New 69 should open to 37 in late 15.

Thanks. I'm heading for Ft. Wayne, so I-71 to Cincy is not too big a detour.

How about I-71 from Louisville to Cincinnatti as an alternate?

Don't know what your final destination is, but the road going from Louisville to Cincy is very good on I-71....

After coming up I-65 and US 31 to Elkhart this week, I would suggest you not drive in Indiana. This state has, by far, the worst roads of any state we have been in. There was a news segment the other night about how Purdue University was researching how to make Indiana roads better - most states figured this out years ago so that should give you some idea.

I-65 from Scottsboro north to Indy to Franklin can be tough. There is road and bridge construction in this area and some single lane. Other than being rough and full of pot holes and poor bridge transitions, traffic wise wasn't too bad.

I-465 - East from the junction of I-65. Under construction and quite rough in areas.

I-69 - pretty good

US 31 - no traffic but some road construction in Carmel. Condition of road depends on county you are in. Best section is around Kokomo.

I-65 is as rough as a corn cobb.
Even what they repaired is rough.
Heading up to Goshen, IN. for Escapade.

Was up that way this week. Construction at Scottsburg has traffic to one lane then crossing over to the SB side...very slow going with the trucks meandering through the construction zone.

I am up to Chicago every week on 65, best time to travel if you can is the evening, fewer trucks and way fewer idiots.

Left Chicago 5pm CST yesterday, saw quite a few RV transporters running at night.

Just came up through there Tuesday. Construction at the 42 MM in IN had traffic to a standstill. I got off at the 36 MM and took US-31 north. Had to wait several light cycles at Hwy 50 for left turns back to I-65.

I use a cell phone app WAZE it gave me the info about the backup which I visually verified from 31.

And in addition this road has about the highest concentration of truck traffic of any in the US. (Perhaps that's why it's beat up?)

That's the same section where I broke an axle hanger last year. Go slow!

Nashville to Louisville is fine. Once you cross the bridge to Indiana there is construction for the new bridge that is being built but should not affect you on your northbound trip. After the Scotsburg exit 29 it will get extremely rough and i mean rough in some sections.
