Instaling a back up camera in a Pleasureway Excel MH

I have a 2010 Pleasureway Excel TS and will be installing a wired back up camera. It needs to match a Rand McNally GPS. Has anyone attempted to run a wired camera through the PleasureWay? Has anyone found a great back up camera to match the Rand McNally GPS??? Any thoughts, suggestions or directions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  • mepboat,
Sorry I don't have any pics but getting into the rear door interior is pretty simple. Start by removing the brake light unit's 4 screws and the whole assembly comes out. Remove the upholstered inner door panel which are held on by clips. After this is done, you'll notice a rubber boot type shield at the inner bottom of the door. This has wires that feed the tail, brake, license and back up lights. The wire for your camera needs to be fed into this rubber boot and into the interior of the door. The rest is pretty easy.
  • I just bought a TADI(see website Tadi.com) wireless backup camera with 7 inch monitor, colour and night vision. I will have it installed by the RV dealer. The wireless ones are not as good as wired units but easier to install. THe RV dealer groans if they have a wired one which requires running wiring through interior to the front or over the top of the roof and down and inside.
  • By chance are there any pics how you went up through the rear door available????? It would be much appreciated.
  • I have a 2005 PW Excel that I installed a Peak wireless camera. The transmitter is wireless but I ran a wire from the dash area to the camera for power rather than hooking up to the backup lights. That way I can leave it on all the time. The wire was run along and attached to the frame and then up through to the passenger side rear door to the camera. Works well!
