If they are so freekin bad, why does the Border Patrol use them in their vehicles? I've had them for over a million miles and if you clean and oil them properly, they are fine.
The border patrol purchases their auto parts on contracts based on price. Who ever has the best price gets the sale. If tea strainers were cheaper that is what they would buy. I was involved in testing of air filters for off road equipment and regarding the K & N product nothing got better but they do plug up faster.
And they get new trucks frequently.
