Kelderman Air Ride System

I recently had the Kelderman Air Ride installed, but just had the opportunity to take it out on truly representative roads. I have to say, I am NOT pleased. It rides fine on smooth roads. However, when we hit any rough road (sometimes even just bridge transitions) it rides worse than it did before installation of the Kelderman.

The pressure was set at sixty pounds, which was recommended by Kelderman. The only thing that is different is that we did not install the included Monroe shocks, but kept on the Koni FSDs, which had been installed, not long ago.

Am I doing anything wrong ? Does anyone have recommendations ?

We installed the kelderman front air bag system on our 2008 Winnebago 38 t with a 24 work horse chassis in April 15' There was a great improvement in ride quality. Our new suspension arms are parallel to the level ground per kelderman. about 78#s of air pressure.
Still have the factory shocks. don't think we need to do the rears as ride quality is pretty good.
Hope this helps.

You measure the bag to have it inflated at about 7 inches. For me on the front it is 51 psi on driver and 41 on passenger. I generally do 45 on each as the weight changes as I pack or have more or less liquids in tanks. 40 on a horrible road is good. 50-55 is fine on good asphalt roads. You have to remember it is not like tires. Under inflated doesn't me blow out. I still think maybe your tires are a bit over inflated. Nothing will fix that. I had a tech over inflate my tires after a lube job and didn't know it. My ride with Kelderman was horrible.

So again, what is the process for setting ride height?

Yes, they replaced everything in the kit. They showed me everything they had done.

When in the south I am comfortable at 55-60 psi. When in the north it is more 40-45psi. Road condition dictates. Just drove from WI to Michigan and back via the UP and set them at 50 psi to start and reduced to 40 psi on the return. Ride was pretty good over some poor roads.

I have the system installed on mine, front and rear both. I usually run from 60-70 psi in the fronts, but it depends on how I am loaded, number of passengers, towing, etc. I can say that you should try adjusting to lower or higher pressures until you find where your rig rides and handles the best at. I believe that Kelderman recommends a generic or close to figure of the air pressure, but each rig is different and you need to find the psi that works best for you. Just be careful not to exceed the max high pressure rating for the air bag. Hopefully this is helpful to you. I love mine, night and day difference in the ride and handling both.

What is your rig. I have a 2015 Winnebago Sightseer 35G.

I am guessing that these don't have an automatic valve. It would make sense to adjust the air pressure to achieve the proper ride height. Is that not part of the instructions?

I replied to your private message. You are way too much inflated I think. You are running 60 and I suspect 40-45 will provide the best performance.

Did you do front and rear?

I'll be following this as I'm considering the same suspension.

Just did the front.

Ride height is critical for proper performance. Winnebago can give you specs for pavement to frame height. On my air system, it made a world of difference in ride quality when it was properly adjusted.

Adjust the pressure until you find what is the best for the load that you are carrying. There is no one size fits all.
