Lexor TS water heater

Newbie here. Shopping for first RV. Considering Pleasure Way Lexor TS 2012. Need to learn: what type of water heater does it have? Gas/electric?. Does anyone use it only with electric? Many thanks. Several searches online have not provided answer.
  • It will be either Atwood or Suburban. Gas/electric can be either standard or an option on any RV.
  • it has a 6 gal suburban water heater depends on trim level if it it gas only or gas electric

    Correct^^^^^^

But why would you let what water heater it has decide on whether to purchase any RV especially $50K PLUS
  • Thanks. I was able to find out about the "6 gal suburban" from an old brochure, just not the gas/electric specs. I wrote PW earlier and their answer was limited (they said the 2012 used propane water heater; they did not mention trim level variations or options-so I've learned something here already!). I prefer to use only gasoline and electric. (Yes, I know about the Ranger RT designed for folks like me. This rig is local and just wanted to know how it compares in that aspect, with info verified beyond just dealer spiel. Guess I'll need to go down there and eyeball it again.) Thanks again.
  • I think an electric immersion rod can be easily installed for a reasonable cost.

  • Great suggestion; I found a kit for that on Camping World's website, may hold the answer if that aspect remains only objection. Appreciate the help.
  • Be aware that the Suburban water heater uses an anode rod and that the conversion kit you saw at Camping World requires that you remove that anode and replace it with the heating element.

You can get those with a anode rod....course the rod is only about 4" long (at most) -------OEM is 9 1/2" long.

Not much protection ------2X need for replacement and the smaller rods are hard to find plus more expensive then OEM.

Course neither Atwood or Suburban recommend (actually discourage) use of the aftermarket heat elements.
  • You will be happy with the Suburban propane hot water heater. I don't know what you mean by just using gasoline and electric. You have to use propane for the stove, furnace and the 3 way refrigerator. The anode rod in the water heater is to protect it against corrosion and should be checked yearly and replaced if necessary. Good luck.

  • Thanks for the input and support, folks. I am back to report yesterday we purchased a 2013 Roadtrek Ranger RT. To explain: The Ranger was designed to operate without propane. It has an electric water heater, an AC or DC compressor fridge, and an electric- or generator-run air conditioner with heat pump that will warm the space enough for my area. (Also, little plug-in ceramic heaters have their pluses.) Generator runs on same gasoline as engine. The Rangers were designed with an induction cooktop standard, but many were ordered with the optional propane stove so have burners in the galley counter (which mine does). No problem, there's a cover for those upon which my mail-order induction cooktop will sit nicely. To each his own! Now to embrace the learning curve ahead and plan some weekend trips to visit family self-sufficiently and--when free from family obligations--check out some local state parks too.
