Microwave doesn't work on the genny....

It is quite strange actually...

It has power and turntable rotates but it doesn't cook. Get to the campground, plug in, and it works fine. I can't imagine that a 4500 watt gen won't run a microwave.

Has anyone else run into this?

I believe I have the factory microwave and genset but I will research that if my power checks out....Thanks for the tip

try your roof top A/C. just to check blower speed and IF the compressor will run

like it has been said, voltage and frequency issues
I can explain it to you.
But I Can Not understand it for you !

One thing I recommend for everyone is to buy an inexpensive Kill-A-Watt meter. Kill-A-Watt
Plugging this in to any outlet on your RV, when the generator is running, will tell you if the voltage is correct, the 60 cycle frequency is correct, and what happens to everything when a load is applied. When plugged in to shore power, this same meter will tell you if the shore power is high or low power, etc.
Basically it is an inexpensive piece of equipment that can help with troubleshooting any electrical problem.

I have one of those. It's fabulous, especially for the price.

All good advice....Thanks

It does run TVs and such but nothing that really puts a load on it. I will do a full maintenance including an output check and update when I do. Now that I know it isn't a "design flaw" I can take the time to diagnose it.

He stated that the turn table is working so he has power to the unit. Sounds like frequency and voltage issue or ground from the gen to switch.

You need to get a Voltage reading on Genset. From your description, the Genset voltage may be too low. Just enough to power the turntable and panel, nut not enough to power the heating supply. Doug

Maybe one of the breakers on the genny tripped. Most have 2 breaker switches on the side of the generator.

Have you checked the circuit breakers on the generator itself? These will be right near the generator start switch on the lower portion of the generator.
