You shouldn't "top it off" with a different weight of oil than what's already in it. If you don't know what's in it, then change it.

Nodwell RN110 out moose hunting. 4-53 Detroit, Clark 5 spd, 40" wide tracks, 10:00x20 tires, 16,000# capacity, 22,000# weight. You know the mud is getting deep when it's coming in the doors.

So does my 2011. If you check the Ford website virtually all of the late model V-10's call for nothing but 5W20. Another vote for full synthetic oil and for the transmission - differential.

My 2004 F-150 and 2015 ACE on a F-53 V10 both call for 5W20 semi-synthetic Motorcraft oil. No reason to change since my F-150 is running strong. Jim.

Should be a sticker in plain view when you look under the hood... My fords since 2004 have all been 5W-30... Some guys tell you to run 5W-20 during the winter months but I never did...

Started using Mobil 1 full synthetic 5w-30 after 10,000 miles on engine. Now have 94,000 miles no problems. I use the extended service Mobil 1 synthetic and change oil and filter between 5 & 7,000 miles.

Side Note: Our manual spec'd 5w-30 oil, later Ford issued a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) recommending use of 5w-20 oil for supposedly a bit better fuel mileage, however, living in the hot desert I opted to continue using the 5w-30 oil.

Good luck with your choice of Oil and safe travels....:)
