Need help with diesel pusher selection

I looking to move up from my '05 Holiday Rambler Ambassador 40 PLQ. Looking for a used or new diesel pusher in the 36'-40' range. Must have lots of pass through basement storage and 10,000# towing capacity.

From the few I have looked at I like the Thor Venetian M37 but seems it must have come out in 2016 as I don't find any older ones advertised. Other possibilities are Tiffin Phaeton, Forest River Berkshire, Fleetwood Discovery, Pace Arrow, Pace Arrow LXE. Any I have missed?

Can anyone offer advice, especially about such issues as quality and reliability?

Thanks,
Ed

I would like to see you put your 40 footer in a 36 foot garage. :B

I wouldn't say that. It's all commensurate and proportional. Rightfully as a norm (like in everything in life, there are exceptions to the rule) the Class A industry doesn't put a Cummins 450Hp in a 34 footer or even a 380 Hp for that matter.

Well Hey, If you like the Holiday Rambler, just stick with it. Within the HR line you have the recently discontinued Scepter 10000 towing, same chassis as the Monaco (roadmaster, frightline xcm modified). Even The HR navigator would suit your needs. But Fleetwood and HR have the same big daddy, so you can't go wrong since the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Missed the Newmarket when I was making my list. Ventana and Dutch Star have some good floor plans in 37' range.

This brings up another question. How does the Cummins ISB compare to the ISL. I have the understanding the ISB was designed for pickups and light trucks. Should it be straining to get its power when the ISL is loafing? I have a 340 ISC now and am happy with it but would like more torque in mountains.

Ya at first I looked away, but now I think I would like one! The 42Q version is the same floor plan as the Tour 42QD and has a tag, 450 hp, and a side radiator. Its the one with the fancier paint on the left when they zoom up.

For OP and others - Is it possible to get 10K towing capacity without a tag? If not, 40' and under is tough to find in a tag isn't it?
Oh ya plenty with 10K, my tag actually has 15K towing capacity.

OP not sure if you are into euro, but this one could sway me to that style pretty fast if I was in the market for a new one. Featured one is 40' 8.9 ISL, 10K tow and a nice coach. (I searched for the ISL when I was looking)

I'd go for the Winne over the Thor...if it would work...Also note that Winne had an incentive of a 3 yr warranty on all of its DP's for a bit..Don't know if that is still out there.

We liked the Winnebago Forza when we were at the Hershey show. Next nicest was the Thor Palozzo. Of course our price point was less than 200k. The Newmars to us had the most comfortable furniture. Tiffin's impressed us the least. All the Newmars and Tiffin diesels were high 200's to 300k+.
