Need new tires

Hi all--our Roadtrek 170P needs new tires. Currently have Michelins and am seeking to improve the ride. Do you Class B drivers have a preference where tires are concerned? Thanks!
  • I researched tires extensively when I replaced them on our Roadtrek 210P. I put back on the same tire I was replacing: Bridgestone V Steel. It seems the wall stiffness is very important on these vans chassis motorhomes. You want a still sidewall. I agree with overbrook. I have read a lot over the years about various tires and problems with tires on Class B rigs and all I can say that eight years with two sets of Bridgestones and I have not one single complaint to voice.

  • I just put a set of Sumitomo Encounter HT on my Sprinter. Highway all season
I took off Michelin XLTs because they were 12 years old OEM. 6 yr 60k mile tread wear 5 year material/construction warranty
They also have a 30 day test drive and 2 year road hazard warranty.
Least expensive tire for my van on Tirerack

You should know, I have my own tire and balancing machines.
  • I just got 4 big O at 245/70/16 e rated tires installed about 2k miles ago. Quiet, does what I expected. I get at tires for the little extra help off road. A little over 900 bux but free balance for life, warrantee for 3 years then pro rate. I most always camp off a dirt road somewhere.

I had bf Goodrich at tires on it that started to delaminate on my trip from Orange, CA to Utah, felt the imbalance, had two starting to go. Replaced them all. (Original tires I got with the van)
  • If you want the best tires for your purpose, use Michelin XPS Rib tires. I wasted a lot of time and $$$ when I used Hankook and then Toyo.

On my 2006 Roadtrek 170P, the Michelin sidewalls had too much flex and made the coach wander more than I wanted.

Replaced them with BridgeStone V-Steels and it made a huge difference. A little stiffer, but a lot less wander.

To tighten the steering a bit more, I adjusted the rack screw 1/8 clockwise turn. Made a big difference - no wander, very precise steering.

Also found the best air pressure - back tires at 73psi, right front, 53, left front 56.

  • I always used Michelins on my Xplorer 230XL, but when I needed tires a few years ago Michelin had a recall & my size weren't available. So I went with Firestone TransForce HT saving $100 & they've been just as good as the Michelins.
