Depends on the campground we always call and ask first and we travel with two dogs a Red Standard Poodle and a Westie! We have only been turned down once when are Siberian Husky was alive (she died two years ago at the age of 14). The RV Park said are Husky was on a dangerous dog list?

I use to travel with 4 Siberian Huskies and never had a problem, but I would always ask the campground when making reservations if dogs are allowed and what the limit was so I wouldn't be surprised at check-in. Some did not allow dogs or have a limit of 2. Every camprground has there own set of rules.

We travel with 5 dogs and have never had a problem. Our dogs have always looked alike so no one would really know how many there were unless all 5 were out at once. We typically stay at parks for an overnight along the interstate, but even at destination parks, ie Yellowstone area the dogs were not a problem. Now we have three gordon setters and two whippets, but they still look alike for each breed. Enjoy your travels.

I am a little late replying to this post but we did make our first Class A RV trip with our 3 dogs to DeSoto State Park in October. We have 2 American bulldogs and German shepherd mix. The trip went great, the park was beautiful, the sites spacious. Despite rainy weather the whole weekend we still were able to walk them quite often and they behaved wonderfully! We biked a little and hiked some and they did fine in the coach for a long as we were gone. We always have a pig ear or some other treat for them to gnaw on while we are gone. We are looking forward to camping more this year.

Yes dogs aplenty in RV's. We have a pair of small guys. It is really no different than walking around the neighborhood at home. Dogs on leashes sometimes don't mix well so adapt. Pickup after. Most of the dog problems I have heard of are inside the motorhome with dogs that become anxious. Dog safety is also important in warmer climates. I use a temperature alarm set for high heat hooked to a cellular at home connect from verizon to alert me to a temp spike in the coach. Everyone knows there dogs tolerance to being alone and for what period works. Great fun traveling with pets.

Hi we just joined and wanted to let you know that we have travelled with our 3 dogs without problem so far. We have 2 American bulldogs and a shepherd mix all of which are 70+ lbs each. We are fairly new to class A but have been to Ft Pickens (national park), Blackwater state park, and Desoto state park in northern Alabama without any restrictions or fees. I am aware that some parks do have restrictions so I always plan every leg of our trips and make sure we have all our vet paperwork with us if there were any question. So glad we joined this forum!

We camp with our golden retriever. I have never found a campground that had a size limit on dogs. I have seen the 2 dog limits and the breed limits, but I never saw greyhounds as one of the excluded breeds. Only Dobermans, pit bulls, and those types. One thing about RV's, is one reason a lot of people get RV's is so they can travel with their pets. So RV parks are generally pet friendly, at least if they want to stay in business they are.

we travel with 3, a Norwegian elkhound (55 lbs) and 2 Siberian huskies (65-75 lbs) Never a problem ever, they always end up being the most popular "people" in the campground, everyone loves a husky.

I wouldn't think that you would have any troubles with your dogs. We travel with 2 dogs with no problems. The only time we have been hassled about dogs at some Private RV Parks they wanted to know if we had dogs that were on some dangerous dog list? I know very little about this list? We own a Red Standard Poodle and a Westie!

We travel with a large white dog but I'm sure that all dogs get dirty after an extended trip. We have found that PetCo, and some other pet shops, provide a bathing service for your dog. They provide the soap and towels and the large stainless steel sink to wash your own dog for a very reasonable cost. They also have the blow dryers if your dog doesn't mind being blow dried. Most of these shops will say on their web page if they provide this service and allow you to make a reservation.

Great & informative post! We are shopping for our 1st coach and will be bringing our pug along, and plan on adding 2 Dogo Argentinos, a large hunting dog, to our family. So we'd have 2.5 dogs lol. Lots of questions as it's all new (and exciting!) to us. Thanks - JB

Thanks to all of you for responding. You've made all of us feel a great deal better.

Hope someday to meet some of you. If you see a couple with 2 large males and 2 smaller females please say hi.

Many private RV campgrounds that we have visited have pet restrictions, either by choice or because of insurance requirements. Most common are a 2 dog limit and/or weight limit of 20 pounds. Many also restrict breeds. I have been to parks with limits that have allowed guests with show dogs, often exceeding the weight or number limit. It would be wise to travel with a camping directory, like the Good Sam, Trailer Life, or some other book. Also cross reference with RVparkreviews.com and with the campground website. And always call ahead and make your reservations with full disclosure.
Happy Trails.
