Newbie Question about RV Insurance

This is a question from a first time RV buyer. I am in the process of purchasing a late 90's Class C RV. It appears to be in really nice shape. It just needs a good cleaning from top to bottom (dust, surface dirt, a little wear in the rug).

The dealer I am buying from stated that insurance for RV's of this type should be about $300 - 400 a year.

When I went to my insurance agent, she quoted me $480... for six months. When I gasped, she said "Yeah, I thought it would be higher". I told her I thought it would be lower. Insurance on my mid-2000's Honda SUV is about the same price for six months.

Considering I live in the Northeast, having a pretty good driving record, is $960 a year for RV insurance the standard?

Never trust a dealer! 😉 I hope you've done your research concerning the Class C you're interested in and really go over it carefully. Have you had an RV before?

We paid about $100/mo for our 2011 Class A gasser when we had it. We pay about $140/mo for our '11 DP now & both were higher than what we expected.
