Hello
We are researching Super Cs and are wondering if there is anyone on the forum who can share their experience? Mostly interested in reliability, ride, and quality of the Nexus Ghost 36DS

Thank you in advance

Greetings from Tomball
My 34DS is on the Durastar chassis and it handles great. It’s a big commercial truck that is built like a tank. I don’t even notice trucks passing me. I had some minor problems with the unit and Nexus fixed them all. Very good dealer support.

I don't have a Ghost, I have a Phantom 35SC. It's on a Terra Star chassis, which is a notch down from the Dura Star the Ghost is on. I took delivery last September. It has not been without issues, those being related to build quality.

Regarding the ride, I can't praise it enough. I owned a bus on an F53 chassis prior to this coach and made all the recommended "improvements" to deal with the harsh ride. Lots of money and effort with little improvement.

My Phantom is wonderful going down the road. I'm not pushed around by big rigs passing me, I don't feel every expansion joint in the road, and we can actually carry on a conversation while traveling without having to shout. I would expect the Dura Star chassis isn't any different and probably even better.

I think my build quality issues are a result of timing. My build commenced mid-June of last year and was completed late August. This was the time that Nexus was shifting from factory direct to a dealer network. They were cranking out a lot of units to have inventory for the dealers and I think I was caught in the "hurry up" attitude. Some examples: I had numerous fasteners on the coach (exterior trim, door hinges, entry steps, etc) that broke off during assembly and the assemblers just moved it forward that way rather than remove the broken fasteners and install new. The interior fabric color selection was wrong, but the SO said she could live with the colors we got. It was built with the wrong satellite dish system installed. I ordered mine with a residential fridge and they installed it without wiring the fridge circuit into the inverter. The wall panel for the fridge enclosure has popped loose three times, many of the exterior decals began peeling off in the first week, and my shower was bleeding water onto the bathroom and hallway floor.

The biggest issue is my living room slide. On my trip home from delivery, the forward drive unit detached and the slide was moving around in its hole as we drove down the road. A trip to the nearest warranty provider didn't fix the problem so I made a trip back to Nexus to get it fixed. It did it again on the drive home. A local repair facility determined the slide is installed out of spec, which caused the drive mechanism to detach and the subsequent bouncing around of the slide destroyed the rear drive mechanism as well. I'm currently waiting for new drive mechanisms, then the entire slide will be removed and reinstalled. Hopefully, that will be the end of the problem.

To be fair, Nexus has stepped up in each case. They corrected the fridge/inverter circuit and installed the correct satellite system at the factory when I took delivery. I was three days at the factory service center and they addressed all the other issues. I think they should have investigated the slide problem a little deeper, as I requested while there, but they're working with me to get the problem corrected to my satisfaction, which includes me using a repair shop of my choosing.

Now that Nexus has a dealer network and is out of factory direct mode, only time will tell how the "build to order" and customer-to-builder communications will work out. I can see where hiccups like I faced could be really annoying if not found until the coach shows up at the dealer and delivery has to be delayed.

My bottom line is that I absolutely love the way this coach goes down the road, and I'm pleased enough with the rig as a whole and how Nexus has stood behind it to give them an endorsement.
