Oil change at Camper World

Hi folks.
I normally use RV Specialists in San Diego for service on our Monaco DP.
They charge about $600 for an oil change and lube. Includes a general inspection of the motorhome, including belts, hoses and brakes. ( without removing tires) included in the charge is $240 for labor. Does not include fuel filters.

Camper World does an oil change and lube for $169.

What says you?

You might try Cummins Pacific or Hawthorne Power System.

Camper World or Camping World? If Camping World I would never let them do anything mechanical to my coach.

Sorry. camping World.
How can you screw up an oil dump, filter change and oil refill?
Dan
Very easy, stripped or loose oil plugs that would leak or come out, Wrong oil, too much oil blowing seals, not enough blowing engine. Do you want to take the chance of replacing your engine. Take it to someone that knows engines not someone who mainly works on the house section.

I've had the same diesel repair shop service my coach since new. 26 quars of Rotella 15/40, Fleetguard filer and COMPLETE chassis lube for $225 out the door. The service before that was $260 but when the oil market tanked they dropped the tab to $225. They never missed the drive line, U joints and slack adjusters.

We stop at Speedco during our travels. No appointment necessary. Takes about and hour. There are none in Florida but we stop at the one in Georgia on our way out of state.
We also use Cummins Coach Care for other maintenance and repairs. If you have a Cummins engine, be sure to join the Cummins Power Club for 10% off.

Always watch out for cheap oil and filters.... $600 seems steep though. What type of oil and filter is used at camping world? Also do they check anything else?
4 whopping cylinders on Toyota RV's. Talk about great getting good MPG. Also I have a very light foot on the pedal. I followed some MPG advice on Livingpress.com and I now get 22 MPG! Not bad for a home on wheels.

Self Service for my Ford V-10:

7 quarts Mobil 1 Synthethic x $6.50 = $ 45.50
1 Motorcraft oil filter $ 4.40
1 Motorcraft fuel filter $ 14.75
1 Tube Chassis grease $ 5.00

Total $ 69.65

Shop building $35,000
Tools $20,000

20 point checkup - 1-2 hours of labor

My RAM 3500 is about 3X that cost. Fuel filters alone are $110.

As noted, would not let CW change oil in my lawn mower. I've used Speedco and they were fine. Now using my local Cummins Coach Care. Oil, filter, chassis lube, fuel filters just a tad over $200.

Went to local CW few years ago to get a new awning installed on previous coach. They installed the awning wrong and had to take it back to have it fixed. They trashed the fabric and had to order new fabric. When I got the coach back, the service advisor proudly told me 'their top technican' discovered that my tires were low and took care of it. I asked him what he found and he said your fronts were at 105 an rears at 90, so he put them all at 120. When I told him my pressures were correct based on actual four corner weights and the manufacture's load/inflation tables, he looked at me like I had three heads. They had no clue what I was talking about.

Never again, sorry.

Another vote for SpeedCo. Been using them for several years, pleased with their service. Mine, for 23 quarts runs around $225.

$600 is robbery, $169 is a pipe dream. You need to find a new source for this service.

I agree with Dennis...Think I'd check around and do a trip somewhere that you can find a decent price and a few recommendations from people who have used the facility.

$600 seems a bit steep.
