Here she is our new 2013 RS Adventurous. Had her less then 42 hrs and had to have it towed in for service:M Started out on a trip and got 10 miles from home when we realized we had forgotten something and headed back home. Started out again, and the engine light came on. Several calls later, and it is being towed to a Mercedes dealer. What a way to start out. Closest dealer is 45 miles away. Could be worst. Just thankful it happened close to home.

Hi, I won't go into a lot of details, but the same thing happened to us 20 miles into the BlueRidge Parkway in July and we spent 6 days in Fredricksburg, VA with our 2012 RS in the Mercedes Benz dealerrs shop. The engine light went and the transmission went into limp stage. We were towed, Mercedes USA paid for the tow the 70 miles. The next day they connected a loose wire in the transmission that fixed the engine light problem, but another light went on that was related to the electronic module and they thought clearing some codes would fix it. After failing two more times, once after it was "fixed" and we were on our way 45 miles away from the dealership, they ordered the new module. After waiting 3 days (weekend), they droppped the transmission and found metal in the pan. They had to completely replace the transmission. Completely blew a hole in our vacation, as we rented a mini van, emptied the RS, and traveled 850 miles back to Michigan. Dealership called at the end of the week, and we drove back to VA a week or so later to pick up the RS. Suggest they check the module, and have it replaced before you travel any distance. Still in negotiations with Mercedrz Benz USA on some reimbursement for hotel stays and cost to drive back to VA and pick up the RS.

Good luck with the new Unit. Don't worry about service since many truck repair centers can work on Sprinters. We have had good luck, though we have not had many problems.

The best way to go would be to buy a ScanGauge

1775 do you know where we can get this code reader or plug? It sounds like something worth investing in. Buying the RS with the MB engine was something we thought long and hard on for this very reason. Chevy dealers are more available across the country. The MB got very high reviews with little issues. There are many sprinters out there. Just our bad luck we have this happen in less then 42 hrs of taking title. It can only get better....right? Without bad luck, we wouldn't have any luck;)

I know that because you lost power this would not help for this situation, but it is a good idea to get a code reader. It is simple to use - just plugs in under the dash and you will know immediately what the problem is. The engine light can come on for some reasons that don't need attention and you can clear the code and see if it comes back on. The reader is not cheap but less than a $100 and there are some that will use an Iphone or Android phone and all you need to purchase is the plug and the app which is less than a standalone code reader.

Better than paying the garage 100 bucks a shot to do the read. Not all garages charge for this.

No info yet as to what the problem is. The engine light came on and it went into limp mode. Our biggest concern when we were deciding on the RS was the MB engine and getting service, especially if traveling. We want to have a positive attitude and hope this is not going to be a common occurrence. Otherwise....for sale 2013 RS Adventurous ๐Ÿ˜‰

Unfortunately, there will be lots of time when there is no dealer within 45 miles (or maybe 250 miles).

Congrats yizit.Very elegant and sporty design. Interested too why the red engine light? A good sized RV which should be loads of fun to use.

Well it looks fabulous. But engine lights coming on are the pits. I have had the engine light go on and off this last 8,000 miles. Hopefully it is just a glitch.
