Out with the CRT In with LED Flat Screen

I finally got rid of the 27" Tube TV that came in our Granite Ridge. That thing was HEAVY! I mounted a 32" LED TV in its place, which is much lighter and also made room for storage behind it.

In order to access all the space behind the TV, I mounted it to a sliding ball bearing mechanism that I built:

Very Happy with how it all turned out!

Nice job. Don't feel bad, we have a Jayco Designer that is a couple years older than yours but exactly the same model and we just got rid of our big beast of a TV as well. Couldn't give that thing away! I like how you mounted that new TV in there. We have had thoughts about that but were unsure how to mount the bracket.

I lucked out and found a hobbyist that is into e-recycling and took ours. Let me know if you have any questions about how I did mine. Maiden voyage coming up this weekend :)

Is that a 12 volt tv? And did the back of the tv readily accept the mounting arm? Thx.

The TV is actually 17 volt. Darn it! I was not expecting it to be DC, but was surprised when I saw the transformer cable. I custom built the mounting arm, but the TV has the standard features to mount an off-the-shelf arm. However, this is a Samsung and uses larger bolts than most 32" TVs. If you were to buy a mounting arm, you would have to go for one that is made for 37"+.

What took you so long haha... All of my heavy TVs went to the local King George dump when the Natl TV network went to digital TV's...

    Never looked back haha...

Yep, I'm a slacker. Took a while to justify the price for a new tv given how little it gets used. The price finally dropped low enough for us to justify it. Also having a 3-week trip coming up this summer didn't hurt.

Looks good! Praise the Lord for Home Depot and Heavy Duty Ball Bearing Drawer Slides! Our house battery is now riding on a pair of them. Jayco put the battery on a slide tray for the higher trim lines, but not on Escapade.
  • It looks great. Nice remodel.
We were pleasantly surprised at how much storage we gained at the removal of the old heavy tank tv!
