Problems with Xantrex system control panel/Onan generator

I am new to the motorhome scene. I have a Xantrex system control panel, Onan 5.5 HGJAB genset and Xantrex automatic generator start.
The generator will start with the remote switch and the switch at the generator, but it will not start using the system control panel. The message I get is W-202 (the auto gen start tried but could not start the generator.) The generator did not turn over. The system control panel/auto gen start was installed by the previous owner but he never used the system control panel to control the generator.
Is there something simple I am missing? or????

Thanks for your help. I finally called Xantrex. They were most helpful. Their customer service by phone or email was exceptional. Type 2 is the correct setting.(Although from looking at the wiring, I'm sure type 10 would work just as well) The problem was with the wiring. The schematic in the book indicates that wires 16 and 18 are connected internally but aren't. They have to be connected externally to ground wire 13. Simply connecting these 3 wires solved my problem. (So much for professional installation!!!!)

The way I read the manual it should be set up for type 10. Read page C-4 in the manual, it shows the timing diagram (the actual diagram is on page C-5 but it's labeled Figure C-4.
The Onan wiring is explained on page B-3 and B-4.
I think you're wiring may be correct but the AGS is programmed for the wrong type.

remote start is start one way, run in the middle and stop the other way. same as the switch at the generator.

What is your remote generator switch like? Is it a momentary contact rocker that goes to start one direction and stop the other direction?

The wiring is for a type 2 generator and the system control panel is set for type 2 generator. There are no fuses in the wiring between the AGS and the generator.

What scheme is used? is the AGS programmed for that scheme? Did the installation include fuses in the proper wires between the AGS and gen.? Are the fuses good?

I have the manual for the AGS and the generator. As far as I can see by the schematics the wiring is correct.

The wiring might not be done right. The AGS might not be programmed right. I think there are at least 14 different configurations of generator wiring that it can be programmed too. If it's not set to the right one it won't work.
Do you have the manual for the AGS? If not see if you can download one. You'll need to find the page with the right programming and wiring diagram for your generator. Then, you'll need to verify the wiring and programming are correct.

You need to verify that the wires are connected to the correct wires on the Genset remote harness. The install manual gives the correct wire connect for all the various RV Gensets. He probably did not get the wiring correct. Doug
