Questions: I'm considering a Class B and wanted to get some Info!

Hi all,

I was an active member of RV.NET for a long time, but my account appears to have been deleted, probably because I haven't used it.

I have started to think about class B's ., but first he's some background and thoughts.

- I towed a travel trailer for many years, but after moving to the east coast from west it has sat unused.  

- The main reason that it sits unused is that at 63 I really dont want the stress of towing. Some reasons: 1) Towing a long rig can be stressful, at 63 I really don't want that 'stress anymore. 2) setup and tear down at a site is always a hassle, say after a long drive you have to reverse the darn thing in, un hitch etc.. at 11pm in the rain is more stress.

- All this stress just sucks the fun out of it.

- As RV'er we all know that you need to tow something.. if you have a class C then you cant drive that around sightseeing without stress. Driving and parking at the supermarket etc would be a stress.

Now that our family has shrunk to my wife, my 14 year old son and I, we dont need anything big.

So I got to thinking about a class B. Which seems to solve some of the problems. Although 18-22ft is still big, its not to big that you cant use it as your sightseeing vehicle. Its about the same size as a long bed truck.

Any thoughts and advice? on this?

I agree with the other post in that a class B would be really challenging for 3 people. We had similar thoughts as yours, we went from a Class A, to a fw and now to a small class C. The FW was awesome when parked but we too found it more stress than it was worth. The compromise was a 24 ft class C on the MBS chassis. Nice ride, easy to handle and just big enough for Me, DW and our 20 yr old son who occasionally still camps with us. I'd like a little more room but everything in RV'ing is a compromise it seems.

I for some reason just can not see three grown folks spending time in a B. You keep talking about the stress of things, to me that would be more stress than hooking up your trailer. You also did not say if you would be towing a car behind your class b. Lets look at the two scenarios here. No car , so everytime you need to travel to the store, sight see, road trip etc. you will have to unhook, and then rehook utilities of the B at site. You also would have to pick up all the chairs, any out side stuff while you are gone. You will have to make the inside secure for travel. For me that would be stress. With car either 4 down or dolly there is hook ups to do 4 down not so much. For me lots less stress than with out car. You are still going to have to drive around the walmart parking lot to find a space for the B. 

I think you have to really look at what type of RVing you plan on doing. There are alot of folks with class B's that are really happy. I myself would not be one of those for many reasons but thats me. 

A few years back we moved from 5th wheel to MH so I did not have the stress of setting up camp, very demanding from backing in to leveling. With the MH yes its easier but it to comes with its own set of stress builders.
