radio help

I just got a 2014 Sunseeker 3010ds on an E450 chassis. It has the Ford touch screen radio/nav/who knows what else system in the dash. Does anyone know how to turn the radio off? Last night, after about an hour of getting it home, I found the radio was still playing. I finally shut off the house battery switch and that shut it down. I'm guessing it is wired into the house system so it can be used as an entertainment system when parked. But what's to keep it from running the battery down when not being used? I miss the on/off knob.

I yearn for the good old simple days, a radio with on/off, volume, and tuning knobs, a laptop with windows 7, affordable V8 rear wheel muscle car. Sorry, just fantasizing.

My 2008 Winnebago has a switch on the left side of steering wheel down on dash that reads "house/engine". A 2 way rocker switch lets you use choose your power source. I had the same problem when I first bought the MH new. I could not figure how to turn the radio off. I called Winnebago and they led me straight. Man, life used to be simple......

Has anybody found an aftermarket radio with a tuning knob? The 2013 VW Golf still has one. I agree these things have way too steep a learning curve to just listen to the radio. Bluetooth is fine as is satellite but I like to listen to local sports programs too.

My "radio" has all kinds of "stuff" you can do with it, but as far as I can tell it doesn't have a simple scan button.

Sunseekers come with a Magnadyne radio. Forest River has designed a circuit so that the radio gets power from either the chassis or the coach battery (but the two are isolated from each other). As you have already discovered, holding the power switch for 4 seconds turns the unit off. The radio has many features and has a steep learning curve on some of them, but is really quite good once you get it figured out. There are several helpful threads at forestriverforums.com

This seems to be a common problem... I have a Chevy and a different brand of radio/GPS/DVD player/back-up camera... running off the house batteries... and it was always turning itself back on. This was in 2011 when my rig was new. It was like the stupid thing was haunted. LTV finally added a switch on the dashboard so that you can turn it off there. They added it to mine and from that point all of their units come with the switch.

I think these "radios" have become a bit too... fancy...

I'm sure you know that it's your dvd player & surround sound for your tv in the overhead bunk, so it is wired to the coach battery instead of the chassis.

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!! Had to laugh, my parents just picked up their 2300, my father called me and said the radio won't turn off! Push and hold the power button till it beeps and let go. Too long and it goes to another screen too short and it goes to the NAV screen.

Sounds like it has been installed and rewired by the coach builder

check and see if there is a switch for radio that says house or engine (?). Had smae sort of problem and when I switched the system to the engine or whatever it would work with the key on/off.

Finally found the manual, it is a magnadyne unit. The NAV (navigation, GPS)
button is the off/on switch also. It has to be held down for 3 seconds to
power off. Just pushing it flips unit to GPS.

I have a Pioneer in my 2014 Thor Chateau. To get the radio out of DEMO mode you press and hold the mute button. To turn the screen off you press the menu button then press the screen where the OFF icon is displayed. Every time you disconnect the coach batteries and reconnect them, you need to go through this procedure. Also, as mentioned above, go to YOUTUBE or Pioneer's website.

I have the same cab and chassis under a 2014 Itasca. My radio is a Pioneer unit, with a back up camera wired into it, with the same how do you shut it off issue. I found that in my case if you open the door it will shut off the radio (and the back up camera) when the key is removed from the ignition. You can also shut it off by using the touch screen and pushing the off icon for the radio, although sometimes other functions start up when you do that. Mine is wired into the cab ignition and not the house battery. My Coachmen with a regular stereo is wired into the house battery.
My biggest gripe with the Pioneer radio is there doesn't seem to be any scan feature - there's seek, but no scan.
