Ready to swap to LED's

I have been procrastinating moving to LED lights because most I have seen are blinding. But, we are getting ready to go dry camping and would really like to save the energy. There are so many out there now on places like ebay and Amazon, it's mind numbing.

Are there certain brands that are better than others? Our current bulbs are 1141's. Thanks for any help.

If you want a color temperature that approximates incandescent, go with 2700-3000K. 4000K and up give a very white to blue white light. I've had several sources of 1141 LEDs and for the most part they've been fine. I would buy high lumen rating from reputable seller in the 3000K color temp.

We've had good luck with LEDWholesalers on Amazon.

We haven't replaced all our 12v lights but did place a few in strategic locations and leave the others off unless on shore power. We found some nice ones at Command Electronics for the specific bright lights and bought some cheep singles from Ebay to use as nothing much more than night lights - just to see where we are going at night.

I also bought mine from Ebay. 15 48 led flat panel 921 bulbs. Just over $21. We're on our 3rd summer with them, none have failed. Even if one or two do fail, no real loss.

True it is mind numing, about 5 years ago I was doing the same thing but on the advice of others here I went with This one I have used this vendor a number of times with no problems, all the lights I have bought from them have been what I wanted.

I have had no failures of any kind.

The price is right for them, some vendors are lower and some are higher, they are all made in china and this is the best deal I have found for this quality.

The quality is all over the place. I've got a mix of bulbs from a variety of sources, some are really good some not so good. Color temperature and lumens output information can be helpful, maybe not entirely accurate or reliable in the cheaper offerings... I purchased all of mine a few years back, so my info on brand quality is likely out of date.

I would recommend reading up on what others have purchased and buy a couple of various output values and color temperatures. If one is too bright for one place, it might be better over the stove or in the bathroom....not bright enough perhaps porch light. This of course only works if most of your fixtures use the same base.

I'd stay away from really cheap no-name offerings, I have some that emit light very unevenly.. however those might work fine in a fixture with a better light diffuser.
