restoring 1987 holaday Rambler

I have purchased a 1987 Motor home and am fixing it up as money is available. I have replaced the passenger side brake line and caliper and now have three wheels that lock up when you stomp on the breaks. This is much better then the one or two that were working on the harrowing drive home after the purchase.
The air pumps are being removed at this time as the driver side one is locked up. The passenger side one seems to be working, but there is a hole in the part mounted on the header that is causing a little ticking sound. The header parts will be welded up at a later date when I can bribe my people with a appropriate reward.
I have changed the passenger side spark plugs, the old ones had a gap of around 80 to 85 thousand when I took them out. They did have a nice tan color. The driver side plugs will be replaced next, along with the cap and rotor.
The front air bags are holding pressure, and the front suspension has been greased with new grease. It has some sort of stabilizer made from mounting two large springs on the front and rear of the lower control arm.
I will be asking some ???? when I get to the parts I don't under stand.

If you want to do something, you will find a way.
If you don't, you will find an excuse.

I was messing with the Holiday Rambler and working on the engine to get it started. I removed the cover and some heat shielding fell off. Under the heat shielding was some sort of production sticker still affixed to the cover.
It's dated and signed. September 10th 1986 by Tim from Station ??

You might be a redneck if you have a Rural King battery and a hose stuck in to a plastic over flow tank. Old school coil with a resister next to it is fairly old school. notice the battery disconnect., the alarm in the darn thing keeps going of so they just put a disconnect in it to keep from draining the battery.

Has power brakes but no powered steering. Not sure you could even fit the stuff for powered steering under the hood lol.

On my coach, they just used a piece of 1/4" plywood to plug the gap. I think the highest heat area would be the boiler where the Propane burner and electric heating element are located everything down stream would be cooler as the heat is removed in the coils. I don't know how to attach a file from my computer otherwise I would send you the Dometic Venting Requirements PDF I have in my coach files. Here is a Google Search link that brings up the PDF for Dometic, I am sure Norcold is the same.

Thanks for posting the link. That is very helpful!

I WILL LOOK. I am going to put some sort of fan at the top, that is triggered by a relay that makes the fan run when the reefer kicks on, if its plugged in to shore power, or the generator is running.

I did not think about the clearance around the coils as a issue. I will read and see what is up. I am not sure how hot the coils get. I assume any thing I put in there will have to have some sort of heat rating to accommodate the temperature of the coil, the wonderful humidity, and the summer temps we have here in Florida.

Looking good so far. Looking at your reefer vent pictures, I would go back and fill in the area between the coil and the outside wall so ALL the air has to pass through the coil. Dometic and Norcold installation manuals have maximum gap that is allowed for best performance of the reefer and Holiday Rambler did not comply with the instructions for installation. Lots of manufacturers don't follow instructions on reefer installs. Go to this site Bryant RV http://bryantrv.com/docs.html and get the Manuals for your reefer and you will see what I mean, I am sure your manual will be there and if it isn't look at any of the other manuals and they will all say about the same thing on clearances.

The hinge is a interlocking type. You can slide the two parts apart for greasing and cleaning now.

There are also four on the hinge side. after drilling them out and taking off the cover this is what ya get. This is after some removal of three side of goop.

Ya, I took the rivets out ,and removed the cover, to get access to the area easier. I had to take two on the front out with a drill.
