SALE PENDING! 1997 Allegro Bus

Hello again! Some may remember me as I started a thread back in Sept. 2013 about looking for a vehicle to travel WI to CA with my disabled son and the rest of the family including my elderly mother.

Well, I found a beautiful 97 Allegro Bus in my budget and I've put some earnest money down while the sale is pending...on hold mainly for weather reasons. The seller has health issues and I've got mountains of snow in the yard where I will be parking it for the season and the roads are still treacherous up here in Wisconsin so hopefully we'll be able to finish the deal in the next few weeks.

I haven't posted since my last thread but I've been in here reading throughout this most awful long winter and I've settled on this Class A forum as home....so I hope you don't mind my sharing!

Any tips, tricks, advice, warnings appreciated!
Thanks, Kay

That's good to hear. I've never thought much of those over cab beds. Even when I was a kid they made me claustrophobic.
Thanks, Kay

Thank you neighbor! Now that you have both class A & C how do they compare? About 2 days after I found my Allegro Bus I saw an ad for a cute little 21 ft class C and it was right here in town. I could really use both! haha Thank goodness it sold real fast because I just hated driving by the cute little thing.
Thanks, Kay

I'm all for homeschooling or online school but my middle son will be a junior the year of our BIG trip home and he's my brain so hopefully that semester he'll have subjects that travel well....not like advanced math or something that might need personal instruction...if that makes sense.

I'm sure we'll work something out.
Thanks, Kay

If next winter is anything like this one that may just happen!

After 42 years of work next winter will be the last where we are tied up here to his job at least. We'll still have 2 in high school but leave can be worked out for them.
Thanks, Kay

Thanks for confirming that. They seemed to be focused on the late 2000 models and noted on the inspection!

dayakster...It sounds like you'll have some special needs to work out with fitting your family in that coach. Take it out on some local trips and try some different sleeping and eating configurations before making any modifications.

Once you find a good set up, do some modifications so that it's easy to operate and your trips will be more enjoyable.

When you get done....post back before you make a trip out west and many can recommend some good stops, campgrounds and National Parks to see along the way.

We've got a year and some before we make the trip home to California and when we do the long haul with my mother on board we will be stopping at hotels. As for us I'm sure we can make the sleeping arrangements work. It has a dinette with chairs so someone can always throw a bedroll down under the table. The main thing is being able to be "home away from home" when we're out with our autistic son no matter how far away from home we are. Our very first trip will probably be just a day run to his Special Olympics meet in May.
Thanks, Kay

I found lots of good info over there on the Tiffin Owners Forum including The Big Three. Most of them seem to have much newer coaches than I do though. I think until I have mine here at home I'll stick around here. 🙂

Thank you Elias, will do!

Fortunately they have kept impressive records on the bus so hopefully those will be recorded.
