Does anyone here have experience placing the ‘pill box’ antenna on a Class C motorhome?
I have been using an XM Satellite Radio Module in my truck with the antenna placed on the center of the dash at the base of the windshield and this gave satisfactory reception. It even worked well when I pulled my 5th wheel as it could ‘see’ the southern sky even when coming north on I 95 from Florida.
I was wondering if this type of installation would work in a Class C MH given the cab overhang on these units. Would it ‘see’ the southern sky when travelling north? Would a front bumper installation work or will I have to pierce the roof. Maybe I could feed it through the roof where the TV coax comes through.
Has anyone here any experience with the antenna placement?
I caulked a square of magnetic metal to the top of the fridge vent and snaked the wire up through the vent. On a previous unit I made a little steel bracket to hold the antenna just under a crank-up plastic vent dome.

I use an indoor outdoor Sirius antenna in the lower right hand inside corner of the windshield on our B+. Works fine.

When going to AK I put it in a cabinet above the dinette angled towards the rear. Worked much better than on the dash.

I put mine on top. I caulked a piece of metal to the roof and ran the wire through the door into the cab. I used enough of the wire to be able to secure it so that it is pretty much out of the way. Works great and I have had no unusual signal disruption
