small leak (drip) behind the hot water tank.

I was poking around the hidden spaces in the rv looking for a possible place to mount a vac system. I took of the small door under the drawers and TV in the bedroom and found the hot water tank. Noticed a small wet spot and found what seemed like a loose fitting but it almost impossible to get to. The DW was able to contort herself around(yoga instructor) and get a few small turns on it, but it got worse before it got better now it's about the same, shut the hose off and will just use the tank pump until we can get it resolved. Does the tank slide out from the outside by just removing all the screws? Anyone got any ideas. I am thinking it might be the hose not the firing leaking. I will try to post a picture. [img][/img]

There are 2 more drains like that under the city water hook up I thought that was the drain lines for the pipes.

Those are the low point drains for the hot & cold plumbing lines.

I'm also confused as they BOTH look like mixing valves...........:H

The mixing valve should be connected to hot out on tank (top) with a cold line from below connecting to it and then a 'hot' line going out from mixing valve that feeds ALL of the hot water system.
So top one should be mixing valve.

Bottom one should be cold inlet and possibly bypass.

What 'drain line' are you checking water temp at?

Water heater water temp should be 160*F (+/-) measured at T&P Valve

Hot water system temp should be 130*F (+/-) coming out of closest faucet.....straight hot wise of faucet

Could someone verify for me witch knob is the mixing valve, I thought it was the red one in the pictures above, but in reading things online everyone is saying a grey valve, like the one in the picture on the first page. The grey one is towards the bottom of the tank and the red one is towards the top if that helps, as of today I have only luke warm water. In LP mode the burner comes on and runs for about 10-15 min then shuts off so I assume nothing is wrong with the diode or the T-Stat. Thinking about draining and flushing the tank then filling with vinegar/water like the manual suggest.

This just keeps getting better. After replacing the hoses and leaving it open 2 hours to make sure there we no more leaks, we now have only warm warm water. Suspect the mixing valve but when I went to check water temp at the drain line it was only warm also. Shouldn't it be 160 at the drain tube.

So what's the fix for that? Replace the mixing valve.

Then mixing valve is probably clogged with scale/minerals (hot side from water heater which is allowing more cold water mixing due to lower hot water flow).......it should be 130*F temp water coming out of mixing valve.

Thanks, it would be nice to have it just a little warmer right now for a shower I turn on the hot only and it's about right but never have to touch the cold.

The 'output' temp from mixing valve can be adjusted.........BUT the red knob has been 'tamper proofed'\\\\\\\ At least they use to by putting glue inside screw.

Under the knob are two sets of splines........large fixed ones on bottom and smaller ones on valve stem. Knob glued down engages large fixed splines making it non-adjustable.

Counter-clockwise 'warmer' will increase output temp.........CAUTION. Temp of water in WH tank should be 160*F (going into mixing valve)
Output temp should be 130*F (into hot water system) which is then mixed with cold water at faucet/shower (just like home....straight hot water should not be used due to possible scalding)

Is it possible to increase the hot water temp by adjusting this knob. It has writing on it but I can't make it out.
Thanks for all the help.
