Thor Tuscany 40EX

I am giving serious consideration to purchasing a Thor Tuscany 40EX. I would be interested in hearing some feedback from current or past Thor owners on their experiences - good or bad - with Thor products.

This is my first foray into purchasing a motorhome. My plans were to stick with 5ers for a few more years till I was closer to retirement, but a recent trip with an elderly parent showed me that I'm going to need to make the switch sooner rather than later if I want to continue taking her places.

Thanks!

I recently purchased a Challenger made by Thor and am very happy with the support from Thor. They have called several times just to follow up if I had any problems or sugestions. So far I am pleased with my unit and Thor

Tuscany was made by Damon and then Thor took over with the Thor name. We bought a Damon Essence in 2008, new. This was a step above the Tuscany at the time - more clear coat, little fancier interior, bigger engine (425 hp) etc. We have only had a couple of issues that I could not take care off. The Smart wheel system failed and had to be replaced and the step well cover jammed part way up and had to cut into that with a dremel tool to get it down and in place. Still not working, but it happened two weeks out of warranty. Everything is great otherwise and I think we got a nice coach at a good price. If you have ceramic tile, then you will be heavy. The flat roof sort of threw me for a while, I was not used to flat roof, having got out of an Itasca into this thing. Four slides are great. Lots of room. We had basement air and the rood air was sort of a change in noise level. The folks at Freightliner in Gaffney have been helpful in all chassis issues. The cummins engine people in Gainesville have reflashed the engine computer and it seems to get a bit better mileage.
Depending on the price they are asking and the condition of the coach, you could be getting a nice coach if all other things are equal
