Thoughts on a 2007 Coachmen Sportscoach Elete 40QSL

Hi,

We're looking at a Sportscoach 40QSL.

I'm really surprised at the placement of the water heater. You have to unscrew an outside panel to get at it for service?

The chasis disconnect switch (knob) is mounted to the radiator? I can envision some prankster sticking his hand through the grill and turning it on or off.

Pros and cons? What's been your experience with this coach?

Thanks,
Eric

if its a ISC it will not so good if its a ISB
A friend of mine has a 2010 37 HR with the 340 0r 50 ISB and he says it sucks

I have a 2011 Sportscoach with the cummins 360. Took it 12,000 miles to Alaska and back; great driving coach with plenty of power. Needed some repairs after an accident and it took Coachmen 5 months to get all the right parts to the dealer. I wouldn't own another one just because of the poor service and customer service I received with this issue.

I looked at the Sportcoach models. I thought that they were not insulated the greatest in the ceiling. I was told that proper ceiling is measured by placing your hand vertical in a fan opening, if your whole hand sets in the opening you have a thick ceiling that is better than others. Seemed like the factory used cheap stuff for furniture too...

We had a 2006 Sportscoach Encore. To access our hot water heater easily, we would just remove the panel below the bedroom drawers. The battery disconnect was in the locked louver cover on the rear. I couldn't get my hand thru the louvers to reach in. And it wasn't easy to see thru the louvers to know what was back there.

We really liked our coach. It drove nicely, had a good amount of storage, and we really liked the floorplan. We'd still have it, but a friend was selling his coach. It was a good opportunity to get one four years newer.

In 2004-5 we at a show in Indianapolis we had some interest in the new Sportscoach motorhomes with a selling price of $119,999 for a 40' with two slides. We decided it was a no go due to the RV being equipped with the 5.9 Cummins engine, feeling it would be underpowered when we went full time.
