You have to remember putting a 10,000# hitch may not be "upgrading".
Towing capacity is only as strong as the weakest part.
Some of those parts include engine, transmission, tires, rims, axles, shocks, springs, size and strength of the frame, brakes and even steering parts. To safely tow, all these things must be considered. The difference in cost between a 5k hitch and 10k hitch is minimal. Why do you suppose your mfg only put on a 5k hitch? They could certainly pump up their advertising with more towing capacity, but they don't. Things to consider.....Dennis
