What Did You Do To Your Class B Today ?

I see the other types of RV's having this type of thread. I did a search and could not find one here. 🙂

Yesterday, I drove mine to work to "excercise" it. I have driven it to work twice in the two weeks I have owned it.

In the two years I owned my Class C, I drove it to work ZERO times. :E

We just measured 7" of new snow and it is still coming. Tomorrow I will take the leaf blower and blow the snow off the B. Works well if you get to it before it melts a bit and starts to crust up.

We did an overnighter, hit a couple of casinos and slept overnight in unbelievable wind! My best sleep came after the wind finally slowed down! Made coffee with my little 5 cup coffee maker powered by the inverter and headed back into the casino for an hour or so. Stopped at a local diner for a bite to eat, we are almost home, listening to the Daytona 500 on the radio.

I took our new 2011 Great West Van Sprinter Legend on a test run of 360 miles round trip to La Crosse, WI Thursday and back today. My first impression compared to our 2005 Sprinter Pleasure-Way is the ride is much smoother and quieter. At highway speeds it feels more auto like and you don't feel like you are pushing the limits at 70 mph on the freeway. In other words it is also like an auto where you don't perceive going as fast as you are going. Handling is very positive. The steering wheel is less van like and more auto like yet you still sit very upright and high. There is no diesel rattling sound on acceleration like the old Sprinter. In quieter you can actually listen to your radio without having to turn it up. The stock radio and speakers are probably better quality. I think the overall MPG is going to be in the 3-4 MPG less. With a new engine starting out at 140 miles total I averaged about 18 MPG vs. my old 22.5 MPG. If history repeats with break in it will probably push 20 MPG. All in all I am very happy with it. Just have to remember it is not a coupe and I am still pushing 4 tons of 22'-9" down the highway. 🙂

I just received a Sprinter Dash Console from Eurocampers and am hoping it works to organize all the "stuff" I like to keep on the dash. It looks pretty flimsy considering I spent $60. Anyone else have one of these? If it doesn't do the trick I will send it back.

That looks like it will only work with the 2006 and older chassis design. The new Sprinters are console rich in storage places both on top of the dash and right above the visors.

A beautiful, dry, but chilly/ windy day here in Pa. so I took the "B" out for some exercise, about a 40 mile run thru the mountains. Anxious for our first real outing in the Middle of April. Can't come soon enough to suit me.

Yesterday, I steam cleaned the carpets in the B and let it air out. It was in the high 50's in the central Ohio area. :C

A few days ago I went to my friends' house in Boulder where my new-to-me PleasureWay Lexor TD is currently parked outdoors. She had been sitting there, unstarted, for about a month, through seriously freezing weather (I was out of town). I feared a dead battery. With fluttering heart I swung up into the driver's seat, inserted and turned the key, and VROOM! Not a second's hesitation. What a champ of an engine. Then I drove her around for 15 minutes or so, wishing I could just head for the highway right then.

My plan is to hit the road for a year or so sometime in late spring. Anyone know of potential renters for a 2-bedroom townhome in Denver that comes with two cats? (If so, please reply off-list.)

I have pretty much everything to learn about the care and feeding of a B, but I've now received the manual for the coach and have started my studies. I think I'm going to name her Gypsy.

We picked up our new 2011 Great West Van Legend today. While I was at the dealer checking it out and signing the final papers, and writing the humongous check, I managed to get in a few minutes explaining features in our old B to a prospective buying couple.

I now have 40 miles of driving our new B. Tomorrow will be the test to see if it will hold all that I want to hold in it, mainly the two inflatable kayaks.

Before it got dark I did check the two house batteries - Two Deka Marine Master Group 31s. That means I go from a previous 95 amps in old B to 210 amps in new. I got by OK on the old with frugal battery management including a 5 day stint in a National Forest. This will be luxury and no fear in the boonies.

I peeled all of the chrome off of the grille. It was starting to bubble in the very center. I've purchased some paint and supplies to re-new it with a switch to satin black. All of the trim is either black or chrome, so we'll see how that works out. I've also soldered all of the connections and built the harness for my tachometer and transmission temp gauge install. I have paint-matched a gauge pod for the dashtop and all that is left is to mount it and wire the gauges up. I just wish the ground would dry up so I could get back to work!

For a week now we have an empty spot in our driveway. It looks strange because we have never been home to see our driveway empty since we expanded and paved it to accommodate our B. The problem will be rectified tomorrow when we pick up our new B. 🙂

If it started, and ran smooth, you should be OK.
