What Did You Do To Your Class B Today ?

I see the other types of RV's having this type of thread. I did a search and could not find one here. 🙂

Yesterday, I drove mine to work to "excercise" it. I have driven it to work twice in the two weeks I have owned it.

In the two years I owned my Class C, I drove it to work ZERO times. :E

Today we took our 2002 190V for a day trip along the South Coast of Massachusetts from New Bedford to Adamsville RI. Sheila had a chance to take a nap. I drove, which I love to. Another advantage was that like Humphrey Pennyworth, we had a bathroom with us. The dogs also had a great time. We did not have a map, and the GPS stopped working for a while, and we found us returning to where we started in Rhode Island. Love it.

One minor problem. These Roadtreks are so easy to drive, that you get tired without knowing it. When we got home, I felt exhausted. Had supper and a nap.

Just had slide type opening windows installed on the rear doors of my 2007 Roadtrek SS Agile. The small awning windows in the rear of the van never seemed to provide much air circulation, especially since that's where I sleep and where the dogs travel. Now will need to come up with new window blinds for the new windows since the Roadtrek installed window shades no longer fit. I am very pleased with this modification as it makes the van much more livable in warm temps.

Installed a 360 Siphon on the vent stack. Was not as easy as the You Tube videos would have you think, however installing it on a Sprinter based class B has issues of it's own.

My son and I cleaned and waxed the entire RV, lubricated everything, removed some of the decals which were looking questionable and checked out all the internals, applianceas etc. Now off we go up Island. Not trading this year.

We just made arrangements with Advanced RV in Willoughby Ohio to have front cabinets installed in our ERA. In addition they are going to install a 110 plug in the cabinets next to the slider screen door which they installed last year and they will be replacing the POS stock blinds with Advanced RV curtains. Can't wait until September for the work to be done.

I've been busy ... done a number of modifications to make my Winnebago ERA easier to maintain and more comfortable for myself when travelling.

First thing ... I removed the rear passenger side captain seat to give myself more room and floorspace.

Next ... out came the optional factory cabinet which had replaced the rear passenger captain seat behind the driver. I replaced that with a comfortable livingroom chair I had so I can sit looking out the side sliding door when the occasion suits me.

I am in the process of having a screen covering of some kind put up on the slide sliding door to keep the pesky bugs out when I am sitting there. I have the material. Just need to find someone with a sewing machine to sew a couple of the panels together. 🙂

Next ... Off came the wheel simulators ... as Winnebago calls them. I call them wheel covers. They look pretty, but are pretty much a pain in the neck when you want to check air pressure or add air. I had placed valve extensions on the valves in order to be able to access them with the wheels covers on and they have been a nuisance with leaking valves and ... even worse I discovered that the extensions were rubbing onto the covers and had started to wear a groove into the metal valve extensions. A tire catastrophe waiting to happen.

Next ... off to a professional truck centre to have a front end alignment. The two front tires were not wearing well. So far it's been perfect and only cost $84.00 compared to the $300 the Mercedes dealer wanted.

Now it was off to a local tire dealer and had them replace both front tires. One with the spare which was still new and they ordered in a new one for the other side. They removed all the wheels and replaced all the valve stems ... no extensions and now I can check and add air as necessary without the darn "simulators" being in the way.

AND FINALLY ... had a tour of the Roadtrek Factory in Kitchener, Ontario recently and noticed they have some very interesting and fancy custom wheels that they use for their sprinter chassis. What really caught my eye was that access to ALL the valve stems was right where they should be. Right there in your face and easy to access. PLUS my TPMS sensors will fit with no problems.

So ... I've ordered a set and am just waiting to take a trip up there next week and have them installed.

I am also looking into some kind of external hitch carrier for when I do my "snowbird" trips to Florida next winter. Am close to ordering the Stowaway 2 MAX carrier, just waiting to confirm there is nothing more suitable around.

Looking forward to the next few years with several major trips planned.

Happy and safe travels to all.

Last month I went looking for a fiberglass marine wax/polish for the roof. After seeing the sticker price shock of $16 + USD for 12 oz (354.82 ml.) btl . . . stepped back and decided to look in the auto section.

Flash back, found Nu Finish. :C I had used it in the past millennium to remove oxidization http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AC7U0ah896c from the then current ‘ride’. Noted now it was Ok to use on fiberglass, so I picked up the 16 oz (473.18 mi) btl for $ 9.50 USD plus the Governors stipend. :R

Upshot . . . is it worked as well as I remembered. Side benefit it also removes the infamous black streaks quite nicely. Washed and put the second coat on the roof yesterday. It now has a shine to it that was not there previously (the 1995 paint finish started out near Lost Wages, now in the land of Cool n Drippy these past four years) so for the owners of the newer clear coats . . . rub lightly as is said in a ‘test’ area. Worked well on my ‘new’ old finish.:B

Side note, it did not work as well on Capt. Tolley's Creeping Crack Cure reside.

So much to relearn :C

Today I changed the oil, greased it, and ran the generator for 30 minutes. I just remembered I failed to change the generator oil, that will be next. two months until fall.

We have been slowly emptying out our B in getting ready to prepare it and put it up for sale. I'm shocked I tell you on how much stuff we have taken out. I found two golf umbrellas and now think back at the many times we go caught in a rain with no umbrella or with one of those tiny ones. Forgot we even had them tucked out of the way and out of sight.

Started the long process of putting another coat of wax on my RT 17. Have to wait until I can borrow a long step ladder and get someone to hold it while I hang over the top to do that part. The rest I will do over a couple of days. Happy it is not a 40 foot pusher.

It is worthy of it's own thread that w as y when someone else has a macerator issue it will be an easy search. Pics (although could get gross) would also help.
