I see the other types of RV's having this type of thread. I did a search and could not find one here. 🙂

Yesterday, I drove mine to work to "excercise" it. I have driven it to work twice in the two weeks I have owned it.

In the two years I owned my Class C, I drove it to work ZERO times. :E

Fingers crossed.

I am mourning her lose. She is in need of a mercerator pump. Needs the generator oil changed and two front tires. The bed/couch needs to be fixed so it will lift. Needs a good cleaning too.

Hi Folks,

On Friday, we determined that our side-by-side Fridge-freezer was on the way out. We ordered a new one which will be delivered on Monday. This morning the freezer went totally. In anticipation I had plugged in out Roadtrek 2002-190V to the house 110 volt current and turned on the fridge. This morning I took out the frozen bottles and ice cubes and packed the fridge full of food. ( Not really much but better than nothing.) Tomorrow, when the new side-by-side is delivered, the food will be returned to the new Fridge-freezer. I will then go out and buy my new Tab 4 pad holder for the RV. I have already loaded CoPilot on the suggestion of Robert of MERYL AND ME fame. (I wonder, does Robert have a last name?)

I also found that ROADTREK.COM has new owner manuals for their 2014 models. I tried to buy one or have it printed. 184 pages. I then read it and found that I might need a few pages which I can copy. Check it out. It is worth reading. Also in Color. (I wonder if they got the idea from Robert of MERYL AND ME fame?) It is very nice.

Happy RVing,

Heapie

I'm doing my first "long" trip with the Roadtrek - Florida & back, with some side-trips. Camped on the water at Fort DeSoto in St. Pete while also taking in the Yankees - Rays series. A great combo for those that like baseball & the beach.

Took IVan out for a stretch-your-legs run -- about 50-60 miles round trip, to attend a CE class. Showed him off to a couple of admiring, dare I say jealous, people -- which is always fun.

All the way, I heard a quiet whisper "When do we get to go on the road?" Not sure if it were the van, me, or both of us.

Soon -- we'll be on our way to a 2-day class in Carson City, NV; a conference in Reno, and a leisurely trip home along the back side of the Sierras enjoying cooler weather (yes!) and hopefully good fall colors.

And if we happen to find a beautiful spot we can't bear to leave? Well, that's the joy of driving a class B. We'll just stay a day and soak in the beauty. Nothing wrong with coming home a day late.

Life is good when you and your B are hitting the road.

Added two Econopower(Interstate) 6 volt golfcart batteries of 232 amp hours to my new to me Coachmen Saratoga. I traded in the little 78 amp hour battery from the below floor compartment leaving a battery sized opening below the new batteries so there's plenty of ventilation. I am temporarily using a plastic storage crate overturned to keep vapors out of coach. I will eventually put a cabinet over the batteries but until then this will have to do. I bought these same batteries for my Bounder 2 years ago and they are still going strong.

After 120,000 miles and 9+ years, removed rear sofa bottom to have the foam replaced at a local upholstery shop. The foam had been cut through by the springs below it so it sagged below other components of the bed for an unlevel sleeping experience. I am sure my wife and I put plenty of wear on it, but it was also helped along by all the grandkids we have had with us and who plop down rather than sit down on the sofa. 🙂

Lots of room in back of van with sofa removed. Bucket and bottles of windshield washer are for supporting the sofa bottom while removing the mounting bolts. The sofa back is on the kitchen counter.

We expect to have it back in two weeks so I can put it back together for a trip to Savannah later this month.

Removed old fantastic fan and installed new one with reversible flow on my new to me Coachmen Saratoga. I was just going to put a new cover on it but wife wanted the reversible type. The former owner had a trash bag with a roll of duct tape to hold it. It worked great and there was no leaking. If my new cover ever rips off tg en I'll know how to temporarily fix it.

Took a quick trip to Assateague Island, Maryland (yesterday & today), one of the few places you can camp just over the dune line from the Atlantic. Very nice beach - not much else, including shade, but that's more than enough.

Got generator on new to us Saratoga working.Took a lot of doing but we got her going. Whew!!!!!. I got the van for a great price and was planning on spending at least $500 to get the genny going but my brotherin law and I did it for the price of some starter fluid, a 5amp fuse and sweat. I also bought a spare tire replacing the rotted one that was on it. I looked for a used one but bought . A Chinese tire called a Sunfull. I will be buying a set of Hercules Terra Trac R/S AT tires when the tire guys I go to can order them. Hurcules has a ribbed radial similar to the Michelin rv tires but the AT's have a re-enforced sidewall and the treads I need for dirt roads. Next week a buddy from high school is going to try and get the roof air to blow cold.

Today my 100 watt solar suitcase arrived. I am purposely draining my battery to about 12.1 volts before I hook it up for the first time. So far it appears well built and fits well beneath the sofa/bed. My AI only has one coach battery so I hope this solution will help me not run the generator on a daily basis when we are parked for a few days.

Took the new to us 1996 Coachmen Saratoga(23rd anniversary present for wife) down to have her weighed with full fresh water and gasoline. Also contains 3/4 of the stuff we will travel with. She came in at 6,750 lbs., a full 1,000 lbs more than the Sportsmobile.Oddly enough the stuff we transferred from the Sportsmobile filled most the cabinets.Yesterday I figured out the black tank size (8 glns booo) by emptying the tank and pouring water down it from a water container with measured marks. Not scientific but effective.
