Will Ford dealers work on Coach with 6.8-liter V10

Will a Ford dealer perform scheduled maintenance on a motorhome like oil change etc with the 6.8-liter V10 engine?

If the answer is yes, will they also perform engine, brake and transmission work on the motorhome, or does it have to a Ford truck center? Or do you take it to an RV dealer?

Do you have a road service provider. They will chase a ford or chevy dealership down for you that will work on your MoHo they have for me.

Ford truck dealers will, car dealers won't. They don't have the lift equipment or large bays, they don't stock truck-only parts.

This is an issue mostly in metropolitan areas where there are multiple competing dealers and separate truck centers. My experience in rural areas in the middle of the country is that all Ford dealers are truck dealers, all GMC dealers are truck dealers, and most Chevrolet dealers are truck dealers. FCA is still trying to sort out dealer arrangements.

I have found whether it is a Ford or Chevy most dealerships don't want to work on large MHs because of the bays and lifts that are required. Also the independent ones that are big enough would prefer to use their bays to work on trucks. I found that Meineke muffler in my area will work on and have bays big enough to accommodate large Class A's.

It sounds like you better figure out who does scheduled maintiance well before you need it. Especially if your not home riding the highways and byways.

Scheduled maintenance does not need to be performed by a Ford dealer in order to maintain the warranty. all that is needed is proof...receipt from the service provider...that the service was performed.

My local Walmart has a large service bay and will do an oil change even though I probably would not go there. My issue with them is that they are used to driving cars in and out not a MH.

As far as Ford dealers go, I have found that many dealers in rural or suburban areas will service the MH. The V-10 Triton engine is in many smaller Ford vehicles that Ford dealers service regularly. The issue is in the size of their service bays.

A Ford dealer offered to do a $19.95 oil change on my Roadtrek for $75.00 because, he said, he would have to do it outside.

I declined and found a quick oil change business to do it.

I was having a dickens of a time finding dealers convenient to my location, so I called the Ford customer assistance number (1-800-392-3673) listed in the chassis owner's manual (not the motorhome manual). It was hard for the operator to find one so she promised to call me back. Thirty minutes later, I got a call with 3 relatively nearby locations. She apologized but explained that it took her that long because she personally called each one (!) to make sure they could and would work on a motorhome. So far, I've used the dealer only for scheduled maintenance, but they seemed happy to do the work.

Same deal when I lost the torque converter while on the road. The Ford customer service folks (roadside assistance in this case) took responsibility to find a place that would work on a motorhome transmission and then called me back.

If hunting around on your own isn't working, give the Ford customer service folks a shot. I'm sure they can help.

No wonder Ford didn't need a bailout!

x2 this was what I did and they came through every time - the problem is that some dealers do not have a service bay that will fit a motor home

I use to have my local Ford dealer do oil, filter & lube but I found out that they didn't know where all of the grease zerk were or the emergency brake plug was and they had to work on it outside on the ground. They recommended a local truck repair center. They did a lot of work on Ford V10 trucks but now is out of business (health problems). There is a local tire place that can do the oil, filter & lube but beyond that I don't know where I'll be getting future service.

IMHO: It depends.

It largely depends on if they have a bay to get a 30' x 10' vehicle into. In DFW, there were only 2 dealers out of about 10 that could do it.

RV dealers typically won't do it.

Commercial truck facilities will.

Didn't mean to sound like an a$$hole! I just thought a quick call to your dealer will confirm. The Ford dealer in my town does not have the equipment or the room to work on a motorhome, but a very big dealer next town over has all the equipment and welcomes the work.
