Winnebago Dealer Recommendation for the Northeast

I'd appreciate a recommendation for a Winnebago dealer located in the northeast. I live in NY but I am willing to travel a few hundred miles for a reliable dealership. I'm thinking about ordering a new Adventurer. Thanks for any advice!

They have an alternative ego in the form of RVDIRECT.COM. There are some super prices but I think it happens because of time on the lot.

Lonewolf80 you can check Wakley's inventory on line but I do know that the carry a full line of Forest River products also, having bought 2 Forest River TT's from them before the current MH.

WDWBWV great post on Wakley's. What other lines do they carry? Good to hear that you are having good success with your Coachman too! I like my Georgetown because of its large living area, that's where I'll spend most of my in door time in comfort and I'll sacrifice bathroom space anytime for that living space. I'm not in the bathroom much on a daily basis. I agree that Buffalo RV can be hit n miss but from my experience and reading this and other forums, I think for a large dealership they do a pretty decent job. How in the world though could there be a $50K spread in price on a gas rig, that has me scratching my head.

I live in Millers Falls, MA and I would recommend Diamond RV in Hatfield, MA also. That is where we bought our used Winnebago Sightseer from. They have been very good to us.

New York is a big state. It might help if we knew what region of New York you are from.

2X on doing business with Ray Wakley. I bought our first RV at Buffalo RV. Our experience had mixed success in both sales, PDI and service. We also personally dealt with one of the owners. We could not reach a deal yet the same unit was offered weeks later on their other national site for $50k less. So much for being a valuable repeat customer. I waited 6 weeks for a service quote on a towing set up. Never got it.

Wakley's is different- small town values, ease no pressure shop. There are three sales guys. One is Ray's son. We worked with Steve. And I can't begin to tell you how much honesty, integrity and respect you'll get. Just honest folks making it happen one unit at a time. Then there is service - they do their own. In their own shop which for a small town is massive. They even have a full paint booth for RVs.


It's worth your time to check them out. Visit all of the biggies in WNY. Wakley's is 60 miles down I-90. Then you can decide for yourself. As for me, I bought a Coachmen Mirada. And we love it. The floodplain beats similar Georgetown (very small bathrooms) Jayco Precept and Winnebago (nice but no residential fridge) models when you compare layout and features.

Finally I just raving happy customer. Maybe I would have been for other dealers had I gotten the same treatment and deal I received at Wakley's.

Tom Schaeffers RV in Shoemakersville, PA. A few miles south of the intersection of I-78 and Route 61, close to Cabela's.

Family owned dealership, have been around a real long time, very, very good service department, and they have their own body shop.

I have outgrown their offerings, but still purchase parts and have service work done there.

Checked RV One's inventory and so far all they have are the Class "B" and "C"'s.

I believe Buffalo RV in West Seneca just started selling Winnies. Though I had some initial issues with them one of the co-owners, Mark Strolle stepped in and made sure I was a "happy" customer. Friend bought a Jayco trailer from them talking first at the Hershey Show then at a local show and dealt directly with Mark and he saved $1400 over the Hershey price.

Not knowing where in NY you're at over here on the western end, Go to Wakley RV in North East Pa. They are about the only Winnebago Gold Star service center in the northeast. Also a small family run business where you might just be dealing with Ray Wakley the owner as one of the salesmen. Our 2 local Winnebago clubs (1 from Pa, and 1 for western NY) are sponsored by Ray and the 2nd weekend in April (this year) have a big "Show and Tell" of your rigs for prospective buyers, and he also has several RV maintenance classes that Saturday.

Check out and consider Diamond RV in Hatfield, Massachusetts. They are a family business. Ive been a customer there about 6 years, always had good service, parts and decent deals. They have a lot of motorhomes on their lot and they have the lifts and tools to repair them.
