Food in Myrtle Beach Area

We are heading to Myrtle Beach for the first time in April--if anyone can recommend good eats it would be appreciated.

Good luck at the KOA. We stayed there one night. Cost us mor there Han it did to stay at one of the parks on the each. Plus getting in and out off of hwy 17 is a bear. I do recommend coming in from the north on 17 so you can turn right and not have to try and cross traffic.

If you go to Murrels inlet, you need to be there when they open or be prepared to wait about an hour. Drunken jacks is our favorite in Murrels inlet. But we have changed where we go. We always go to bubba's fish shack in surfside. Great food and half the price. And closer than Murrels inlet.

Drunken Jack's in Murrells Inlet has become our place of choice when in the MB area. Sit out back and watch the tide and boats. South a MB a bit, gets you away from most of the touristy stuff.

If you know where you're going to stay, that would help. Murrell's Inlet in the south to Little River in the north is 40 miles long and lined with hotels, CGs and restaurants. It is "The Grand Strand".
My only time in an RV was at Ocean Lakes. They're directly next to Lakewood and Pirateland. There's also a KOA, but its on the wrong side of Business 17 from the beach. That's a four lane run across Bus. 17.
Restaurants: Avoid the all you can eat buffets. Everything is breaded and deep fried. Some of it is cooked the same day its served. They call it "Calabash Style", but there's more breading than seafood. OTOH, the restaurants in Calabash, NC. actually serve more seafood than breading.
If you don't want to stay on the beach, I'd recommend Willow Tree About 10 miles north of Little River. Lots of space between sites, all face a large lake and many have private hot tubs.
BTW, if you're a golfer, take your clubs. Golf is a MB specialty. And if you get tired of seafood, try Chuck's Steakhouse. Good steaks and salad bar, and a fishbowl full of "Chuck's Steakhouse" golf tees on the way out the door. 🙂

You just have to go to Calabash, NC and get a taste of the ultimate seafood.
Don't get dismayed at the long line at the Seafood Hut. it moves sort of fast. Good time to chat with fellow dinners. Learn how they found the Hut. When full, it sits 60 dinners.
Can't wait....Then go to the waterfront and eat at Captain Nance's.

What part of Myrtle Beach? How far do you want to drive? What type of food?

With that said, we normally stay in the south side of Myrtle Beach near Surfside. We prefer Ocean Lakes, but have stayed at Lakewood next door to it as well. We normally eat on that side of town. In the last couple of years we have found and fallen in love with Bubba's Fish Shack. Its across the street from the beach just a mile or so south of Ocean Lakes. It is great food and very inexpensive. Also down in the Surfside area, we tried Ultimate California Pizza which is owned by the same company that owns Bubba's. The pizza was very good. If you don't mind spending a little money on seafood, our next favorite is Drunken Jacks's in Murrels Inlet.

we stay away from the buffets. First of all, we don't normally eat at buffets. We don't like fighting for our food, which is what you about do in MB. Plus they tend to be higher priced than the places we mentioned per person. I guess if we ate a lot, then it might be worth it, but we find the plate sizes at the other places are more than enough. Sometimes too much.
