This may be one of those "Which way to hang the toilet paper?" questions, but does anyone know which Mexican vanilla is really the best? Some say the stuff with the rooster on the bottle, while others say the opposite. Some say that only glass bottles are good while others say that the plastic is fine. Any Vanilla experts on here?

Have not tried them all, so I am no expert. But as long as it is pure vanilla it is about the best your going to get.

We once bought a bottle of the White Vanilla ,it had the Rooster on it!We gave it as a gift.. The recipient reported that it contained Feathers !I will never buy another bottle of Vanilla Extract from a Mexican Store again!Incidentally All bottled Vanilla is Vanilla Extract there is no such thing as Pure Vanilla in Liquid form! Pure Vanilla comes as a bean!

In any case IMHO the Mexican vanaillas (observe the spelling) are superior to those from the US in concentration and volume for the price. We prefer glass containers. Unfortunately we don't go south of the border any more, pity.

We like the dark Vanilla with the rooster on the bottle. Have used it for 10 years with total satisfaction.

Of course if a label says "This product does not contain Coumarin" I would trust it with my life. After all Mexico is so well regulated that this could not possibly be untrue. Ya right!

I like the Nielsen-Massey brand. Nothing cheap about it, though. Contains water, booze, sugar, vanilla bean extractives. That's all.

I looked at vanilla in Mexico. none of the bottles were sealed. those rings that break when you twist the plastic cap off were all brokn. i didnt trust it.

I received a bottle of Mexican 'vanillin' as a gift from a friend. While I appreciate the gesture I prefer vanilla from Madagascar.

We just bought several bottles of Orlando Aged Premium Natural Vanilla (Organically grown) at the Tianguis in La Manzanilla, Jalisco, MX. It says "This product does not contain Coumarin" and is what we usually bring back home for ourselves and friends.

We paid 250 pesos total for (4) 125 ml bottles.

I am reading the label on the bottle that I bought last week and the label says "free of cumarin" and the name on the bottle is Tropical World. I paid 4 bucks a bottle.

I recall looking at a bottle of "Pure Vanilla" and then reading all the big chemical words on the ingredient list. Made me nervous.
