10 foot CAT5e Ethernet Cable not working
For years I have ran a CAT5e Ethernet cable from my son's home to my RV. In the RV I have a LexSys 5 port hub. From the hub I run a 30 foot CAT5 cable to my printer and a 10 foot CAT5 Cable to my laptop.
A few days ago (may be after a thunder storm) the connection to my laptop stopped working. I replaced the 10 foot cable with a 6 foot cable and all works OK. The 30 foot cable to the printer works OK.
The 6 foot cable is a little short so I want to use a 10 foot cable. I have tried 3 different 10 foot cable and NONE will work.
Can you think of any reason the 10 foot cable will not work? No Internet connection. The light on the hub (that should be green) is off with the 10 foot cable. The same with the Ethernet lights on my laptop.
