Adding Sirius XM Radio where to mount antenna

Good Morning! I have a Roady XT that I have mounted with a car kit to the dash of my Class A. How is the best way to run the antenna outside and where should I mount it? To say I am new to the Motorhome life is an understatement! All help will be appreciated!
  • Johno02 is correct. Fiberglass, plastic, etc. is transparent to the SirusXM radio signal. Since my antenna had a magnetic base, I ran the antenna wire into the front overhead cabinetry (pulled the speaker up there for access) and set it on an 8"x8" piece of sheet metal. Never had a problem with acquiring a signal.
  • In previous coaches the technician ran the antenna cable up under the side window trim to the overhead cabinets. Then pulled open the cabinet rear to access the front endcap and pulled the cable out the top marker lights. This exposed about 18" of cable running up the roof line, the antenna was fastened with silicon. If you have a front mount TV you can access the endcap behind the TV. Worked well for 11 years on the previous RV.
  • in overhead cabinet under front cap. run wire up beside windshield under trim strip. Don't need to bother with putting it outside. Just don't have any metal sheeting above it. Works find under fiberglass front cap.
  • If you have a magnetic mount antenna, consider using Dicor glue a piece of thin sheet metal to the roof. Stick the antenna onto that and run the wire inside. If you have a permanent mount antenna, then consider glueing it to a convenient place.
