I feel your pain.
My new Samsung optical-only output feeds a soundbar. Every few minutes there's a 'white' spot in the sound, like the words are gone. Perhaps something to do with its Output leveling or something. I can't seem to find a fix.
The TV sound (yuck) is fine, so it's either something in the soundbar or the TV's optical output.
