All my photos are about to disappear :(

Looks like DropBox is going forward with their threat to remove the "public folder" feature for us free account holders.

All of my various posts on these forums with embedded pictures will soon have broken links.

I haven't mastered how to embed a picture from Google Drive or Microsoft Drive yet, I have paid for terabytes of space between the two providers, but they've made it impossible to generate a simple direct link to an image file.

This is a reminder that your Public folder links will become inactive on March 15. On that date, your Public folder will become a standard Dropbox folder, and your files will remain safe in your account. If you want to share those files again, you’ll need to use shared links instead.

I moved all of my photos to IMGUR back when PHOTOBUCKET was doing the same thing... IMGUR is free and offers several different links to your photos from a list you can select from... This is what I use to post photos on RV NET...

I can also save almost any image on IMGUR from the web like RADAR MAPS or location photos from SAT VIEW etc... pretty easy operation even for this old man to learn to do...

I also can get to almost 99% of my photos that have been posted previously on RV NET ond other forums by search on google for a couple of my unique entrties in my signature file. I search for 'K9PHT 14RT' and when it loads up select images. I usually get four or five pages of my previously posted photos all complete with a good URL address. Then I can add this real quick to the RV NET post form and resend again...

  • What a pain? I've converted a few posts in tutorials from DropBox to Imgur.com - what's powering the photo posting webapp. Imgur.com is so popular in social media that they are not likely to go anywhere.
