Any hints on using a regular router with a Ubiquiti Bullet?

My WifiRanger router wifi failed - still works with RJ45 patch cables. The Bullet still works and does a great job of pulling in weak wifi.

Anywho, I'd like to replace the router with a WRT54G I have lying around.

Anybody done it? DD-WRT?

I found these documents helpful for setting up a Ubiquity Bullet. The key points are to properly assign a subnet address that won't conflict with the campground server or your router (it's common for the default to remain 192.168.1.1-100 or 192.168.2.1-100) and also set the DNS to Google's public Name Servers 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 to avoid conflicts. Also set your bullet as an "Access Point" (be very careful when testing other configurations or you'll end up climbing on the roof to hold down the tiny button on your bullet to reset it to default)

What is the wrt54g doing? Is that the part with the failed Wifi? I'm not familiar with a wifiranger.

I tried it in both the WAN port and a LAN port. I wasn't able to connect to it with my WRT54G. It does still talk to the ranger - that's how I know what IP address it's set for.

I think I'll try going direct from my PC to the Bullet.

I'd be curious to try plugging it into a LAN port first... doesn't the bullet have a wifi client mode? If so, it should connect park wifi to whatever is connected to the other end of the ethernet cable, and park wifi should give them all ip addresses? that's how I do it with my dd-wrt router at least

The Ubiquiti Bullet gives you an Ethernet signal out, does it not? That should feed into the WAN port on the router, and you go from there.
