Any "Real" Unlimited Plans?

Texsinbad

Within the next couple of months, we hope to hit the road and looking for โ€œrealโ€ unlimited data for internet while traveling.

Things might change, but we probably stream/download 50 gigs a DAY. So, we really need unlimited plan.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Maybe he meant 50MB per day? I have never heard of anyone outside of an organization using even close to 50GB per day.

My organization uses 1 to 2 TB per day but that is for 500 people.

A lot of base home landline plans won't support that level of usage.

None of the consumer plans are going to support this. Even if you find one that technically does, expect within a month or two, they will ask you not to be their customer anymore.

Also, what is your peak demand? 50GB/day is 0.62MB/s if you are pulling at a steady rate 24/7 but if you are expecting 50GB/day in 8hrs, that's expecting 2MB/s for 8 hrs...once you get away from the big cities, that isn't always possible even if the plan were to allow it.

I'm going to call this not possible at this time. When 5G is nation wide, maybe though it will be expensive.

Hi,
I agree with Gdetrailerโ€™s reply'
Thatโ€™s a significant amount of data streaming! You may need a couple of different cell plans for that volume of data streaming!
Also, one would need to know what that amount of streaming data entails (video, music, etc) to offer more specific alternatives.
I know T-Mobile had an option that allowed some music apps to not count against the data volume in an older plan, but not sure how they handle it with unlimited plans currently.
If your on the road/driving wouldnโ€™t you be streaming less too?
Definitely agree with using a lesser quality HD+ resolution and DVDs as well!
Also may want to download things ahead of time to local storage drives while you have access to your current unlimited plan!

Good luck and happy holidays!

That's crazy high, around 1,500 gig per month?

Your going to pay a crazy amount per month IF you can find a wireless provider that will be willing to give 1.5TB or higher limits per month.

No, Cell wireless Internet is not really "unlimited" per say, they won't stop you from using it but they WILL "throttle" you down to dial up speeds after you reach the agreement threshhold.. And I suspect you won't be happy with 53Kb-128kb throttle speeds.

Might want to rethink your streaming usage, you may need to force streaming to SD 480i instead of HD video. Find OTHER ways to entertain yourself like buying or renting DVDs.. Don't depend on campgrounds wifi, they are often over congested and weak which makes streaming pretty much worthless.

50GB streamed over a 10 hour day is around 11mbit/sec -- I think your first problem is going to be finding a cellular carrier that will provide a steady 11mbit/second all day long, especially if you camp off the beaten path where the cellular infrastructure is spread thin and you're lucky to get 1mbit/second.

I assume that most of that is streaming video -- most streaming providers let you turn down the quality to reduce bandwidth usage. But even if you get that down to 10GB/day you're going to be hard pressed to find a 300GB/month plan that will let you use that much bandwidth without throttling.

I have Visible and have used as much as 300GB in a month. I think Visible would consider 1500GB excessive and probably shut you down.

"we probably stream/download 50 gigs a DAY"

Are you sure? I don't think any carrier will want you as a private party "normal" customer.

Could you explain what you do to stream that amount of data and where you are getting the information about usage?
If you truly use that much you are NOT going to be happy trying to duplicate that ability while on the road.
What I post is my 2 cents and nothing more. Please don't read anything into my post that's not there. If you disagree, that's OK.
Can't we all just get along?

We use visible and it is 'unlimited' to the extent we use it, maybe 40GB tho usually closer to 30. So if you want 140GB I'm not sure how that will work. Visible is a Verizon spin off and in our 10,000 mile loop out to Idaho and back via ND, SD, NE and KS to FL we only did not have a signal maybe 2 times at the campsite. And we boondocked. You could get two visible phones to double your bandwidth. $40/mo flat tho you can cut that to $25 with a sharing plan.

At that usage rate I don't think you will find any plans that fit your needs unless you go to a commercial plan that will cost big $$$$ per month. Sprint is the only carrier currently offering "unlimited" "UN-throttled" plans but about the second month of that kind of usage they will cancel your service.
