Hi,

Have a new travel trailer. Is there a way for me to plug an Apple TV into my RV TV and play my movies from my iTunes library - wait - wait for it - without a wifi connection?

Someone had told me that if I have movies on my iPad, and an Apple TV hooked up to my RV TV, I can set something up via bluetooth - but I don't know if that is possible.

Thanks - david

Yes, it's called air play. When your apple TV is turned on and your iPad is playing a video, you should see the airplay icon on the bottom, just tap it and the video should magically appear on the TV.

Doe this use bluetooth? I won't have a wifi connection between the apple tv and my iPad
As of iOS 8 you no longer need a wifi connection. They will connect directly. Prior to iOS 8 both devices had to be on WIFI but internet was not required.

Do keep in mind that if you're streaming the show from your iDevice you're either using data or on the wifi. If you're on campground wifi you might run into some issues, so downloading first might be a better bet.

I like our AppleTV 3 but I'm happy I kept my old AppleTV 1 with the hard drive so I can load movies/shows onto it before we leave.

Should work. Off topic but you do know there is an app that turns your iOS device into a (much better)remote for your Apple TV?

Yep - remote - free from the app store. Works well. You can also use keyboard to type when doing searches on netflix, youtube, etc.

Yes, I think the app is called Remote. It's by Apple.

You should be able to do so using AirPlay to access your Tablet/Phone or MAC iTunes library. No router needed, as its a Peer to Peer WiFi connection.
