Be Careful When Typing URL's

I visit a certain Windows forum from time to time The URL is www.tenforumscom. However, I accidentally left out the's' at the end and found myself on a badly infected site. Fortunately, my Norton security saved me. Just a heads up. If you're not familiar already, one letter off can make a big difference! 😉

A scan with Malewarebytes found two "PUP's" and quarantined them.

OP here. I had that site bookmarked in the browsers I regularly use, Edge, Chrome. I was trying out a new browser, it was such an obscure name, I don't even remember it now. I hadn't yet bookmarked that site.

EDiT. That new browser is Yandex. I wound up liking it and kept it on my computer. I made sure the security settings were properly set up.

I don't use bookmarks for easy sites anymore. Easier to type rv.net or rvtrader than go to the bookmark. I bookmark more complicated url's

I remember when I first got online the big todo was whitehouse.com, rather than whitehouse.gov. Quite the eyeopener when it came up. 🙂

Thanks for the heads up, but yeah, why are you typing repetitive stuff? Your browser, at least, should remember that for you.

Once years ago the owner of a company where I worked wanted to show his wife and kids pictures of outer space and spelled something wrong. The kids saw some X rated stuff.

Why do you type URLs other than the very first time?

Copy the URL to a document or create a shortcut for example.
