Carry Out ladder mount

Question

I just mounted my carryout on my ladder and ran the cables to the dock in my 5th wheel.  Now how can I test it to see if it can find the satellite without starting the service ?  We will be leaving on an around the country trip in 2 months and I do not want to pay for 2 months service that I will not be using until then.  Plus I do not want to wait to see if it can find the satellite until we go to leave and find out it does not work.  Plus will a local dish installer check it out?

Just go into the receiver setup menu and go to Signal Strength and then Signal Meter.  Once there, turn on the Carryout and and wait.  After a few minutes you should see a signal strength in the 80 range and it will remain there.  Assuming that's the case, you have it all hooked up correctly.  Just be sure to set the antenna type first as described in the owners manual before starting the search.
