Chrome browser looking pretty strange

A curious thing is taking place in my Chrome browser, which is rendering it unusable. The address bar, as well as any dropdown menu, are loaded with little square`characters in place of letters and words. These are`hollow squares, BTW. I've tried re-installing Chrome, but to no effect. I don't recall how the problem started or what I did, if anything.I like the browser and would like to use it but all these strange characters make it impossible. Any ideas what the bug could be?
BTW, I'm running Win XP.

Sounds like a font file issue.. For some reason your browser is choosing to display a font that does not exist or that only has a few characters.

How to fix it: Sorry no clue I only recently started using Chrome (But that symptom is common in many programs) and have no idea how to fix that.. IF you can find a font setting,m Try Ariel or Times-Roman.

I have always been a big user of Windows Explorer, so I always put an icon for it on the Taskbar so I can get to it with one click. Just find the explorer.exe file (I think it is in the Windows folder for XP), create a shortcut to it on your desktop and drag it to the Taskbar. On my systems, I always make it the first icon to the right of the Start Button.

Well, on my Windows 7 and 8 systems it is the 2nd icon to right of Start button. The first icon to the right is my Show Desktop icon. ๐Ÿ™‚

Well, it is a little more complicated to do it with one hand in XP:

To open Windows Explorer, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Windows Explorer.

If using Win 7 or 8.1 in Win 7 mode, right click on start button and then click on Explore or Open File Explorer.

I would like to do tht, but it's impossible. I won't be able to find "tools" because all the writing is in the form of those little squares. Might as well be Chinese!:R

I've had trouble with mine, too. All of a sudden it said I needed to sign in....when I tried to sign in I couldn't (apparently) remember the correct password. When I said I couldn't remember it, it asked for my email address. BUT, it wouldn't take my email address....said I had to use a separate one and THEN asked what month and year I signed up for Google.....SERIOUSLY???????? I don't remember. I shut down and started again and then everything worked fine.........sheesh!

Some weird stuff happened today with DH's chrome. I went in and disabled one of the extensions, he had little squares or icons below his google search box. At this moment I am not sure what extension it was. He didn't have it yesterday though and he didn't know why it popped up. I guess I got lucky.

I use chrome on my chromebook with no problems. ๐Ÿ™‚ I don't even use microshaft anymore although I still have a desktop. Chrome is so fast easy and does everything I need to do with no worry about virus.
