The other day I canceled my landline phone because of the solicitors. I can't carry my iPhone in the house with me all the time. I have a two story house and wondering what is a good phone to buy to pair with my iPhone. Do the cordless phones work very well.

Verizon and ATT both have a Home Cell Phone that plugs in. After you disconnect the house from the wired line coming in just plug the house into the new box. Now all your house phones including wireless phones can be used just like you had a wired line. My Verizon version costs me about $25/month for unlimited calls in USA. It runs on a 12 volt wall wart so we take it along on vacation and plug it into the campers 12 volts with a homemade cord. You can also forward it to a cell phone if your not going to be home. Had ours for about 5 years now. We recently moved to a different state and are debating if we should keep the number from our old address so we don't have to change numbers everywhere or stop confusing the locals and switch it to a local number.

Thank you for all your replies. After the 4th I'm going to Best Buy and check out all the phones. OMG, I'm talking on the iPhone too much and running out of minutes, LOL. I do enjoy not getting robo calls, etc. Happy 4th of July

Be careful giving your cell number to businesses, contests, etc. or you will get the same number of telemarketers. We keep a landline as a part of a bundle and use that number where number is asked but don't answer it. Family and friends have cell number and others can leave a message on land line if it's important.

Do not call list worked once upon a time but too many calls orginate from overseas where they ignore the regulation.

Many cordless phones support Bluetooth natively, no need for a gateway. Here's one example.

Bought a wireless house phone system for mom that also works with her cell phone. If a call comes in on the cell phone she can answer it with any of the wireless phones in the house. Works great and she doesn't have to take her cell phone out of her purse.
