Convert xlsx to xls file

I prefer Libre Office over Open Office. Its also free.

You need to take sch911's advice and install the Compatibility Pack so that your Office 2002 will open the newer files. It's free!!!

I knew you guys would be fast with the answer, but I never expected THIS fast. The Viewer and Open Office both do the trick. Thank you all very much.

As far as having the originator save it in xls format, I had thought of that, but explaining to him how to do it was going to be a major challenge.

If you just need to open it (not make changes) download the free Microsoft Excel viewer.

Download Open Office it is a free office suite and will open xlsx files and it is free.

Not familiar with the conversion program.

Is there any reason you cannot have the file creator open the original and resave in the .xls format?

Is there someone with the newer Excel version who you can send the file to and return is to you in the .xls format?
