Which browser? Some of them it is hard to change the home page.. Some of them may automatically check and restore it.
Internet Explorer
HOWEVER. That is the behavior of many mal-ware programs. Just not, normally, MSN and GOOGLE as the ones they switch to.. I've had some really strange stuff pop up.
I don't think this is any "real" malware. It's just google and MS wanting to have their way with my laptop. I'd prefer they let me have MY way though.
NOW: if you have any "Security" toolbars installed, some of them prevent the changing of home pages and search engines.. These will usually lock it to either their choice of home/search pages/engines or what was in place when they were installed. I generally do not like tool bars as well.. I have a firewall and an A/V program snd at least two other programs that all come with tool bars and eventually.... I run out of realestate for the page I'm trying to view.
No security toolbars installed.
I recommend a good Mal-ware scan with multiple anti-viruals, AVG, AVAST and Malware Bytes would be my choices.. Malware Bytes is Staples choice as well.
I've scanned with multiple AV, malware, etc. scanners. No hits.
If you do not have a firewall (Or are just using the "Windows firewall" get a good one.. Like Zone alarm.
ALL the above have free editions.. And that is my recommendation.
OK, I'll check out zone alarm. That's probably more of a "preventer" than a "fixer" though.
Thanks for the help.

Have you gone into options and deleted the unwanted search engines from the list? tools>internet options>General>search. Delete all unwanted search engines shown leaving just the one you want to use. After restarting IE go to options again then programs then mange add-ons and under search providers get rid of any strays that maybe hiding there.
I've done that many times. Google always reappears and makes itself the default search engine, and msm.com makes itself the homepage.

I don't know, but changing your browser to Chrome would be a good start.
